Any Transformer fans?
Just do whatever makes you happy man. A similar thing happened when my coworker decided to put Superman stickers on his hood and rear quarter windows. I asked him, "so what does that stand for? Super gay?"
Just prepare yourself to be bagged on when you do things like this. However, if you don't give a crap then have at it.

oooh please what is wrong with people these days.... REALLY.... transformers.... I wonder what's next... hello Kitty or barbie lol... keep your z clean and stick this thing on your nabber car and wait for the shock hahahaha
Am I the only one that doesn't see it as a huge deal (depends on where you put it and how big).
My friend has a little decepticons emblem on his AP1 S2k radio cover.
Killboy that takes the Tail of the Dragon photos has a Autobots logo on his widebody S2K.
I've seen at least 3-4 Z's with Star wars themes (vanity plate, rebel alliance logos etc).
Would I do it? no.
Is it ricey? yea probably.
It's all in what You like. Don't expect others to always accept it, it's your car and its about you.
My girlfriend (huge star wars fan) has sparked up convo's with people based off of little things on peoples cars she knows is star wars.
(not the same but similar)I do car detailing and when I see someone else's car that has a detail co sticker on it I know I talk detailing with them.
Just my thought flame me if you want, I just don't see the big deal.

BoomerZ33, thanks... I think. I was thinking about putting a small one on the back. I'll see.
morphiusrt, thanks.
C5_vette, I wanted one of those actually. By the way, the original G1 Prowl and Bluestreak transformed into a Datsun 280ZX...

They actually re-released Prowl and Bluestreak (now called Silverstreak) as 350z's. I bought both!! I love transformers too, and my 350z. But I kept all my stuff subtle: decepticon logo oil cap and a picture of the movie Baracade on my radio on startup, but thats about it because I'd never hear the end of it. So really it's all about what you're willing to put up with.
As for your actual question which was placement, I'd say shave the emblems off the back of your car and put the metallic one right in the middle where the hamburger is. I'd stay away from magnets and stickers because they look cheap IMO. Also the fewer the better to keep it subtle. You could also try to do a decepticon z version of the bumblebee camaro (put them where the fender z's are). Either way, you should shave the stock emblems so you don't have all kinds of different metal stickers on the car.

Pete5150, thanks, that's all good advice.
Subtlety is what I am shooting for. One placement idea was the opposite side of where the "350z" emblem is. I have tried the thin magnet one in various places and it looks a bit cheap. It will not stick to the hood or bumpers. It's large, maybe 6 inches in height and the colors and cartoon nature of it makes it's impossible not to see it. It really wasn't all that bad! I'll have fun playing around with this.

Update:
Now that I've had my Z out for a few months, not counting the winter months in storage, I've decided not to do this.
I was only looking for advice on how to do this proper, so thanks for all of it.
The magnets and stickers look cheap and I never put them on my car. Following Pete5150's advice, I found the following for anyone interested in modifying the hamburger. Please note this is NOT my car:

Again, this is NOT my car.
I've decided against doing this type of modification as well as what I previously mentioned. I'm keeping the look stock. (EDIT: I may put a Nismo spoiler/rims on it someday.)
All's well that end's well.
