Man,props...I would not have the patience to wrap a car.
I'd pay someone to do it.Not knowing much about wraps, did
not know there were so many color selections.I'm not a
blue person.Your choice of color would not work for me.
Also,I just can't warm up to the blue and your red seats.
Regarding wrap colors, matte gray just works for me.

Thanks all for the compliments. I quoted the people who had specific things to comment back to or answer, but I appreciate all of your responses and encouragement!
Thanks for the encouraging picture! Your car looks nice! I believe you might be buying some lowering springs from a local friend of mine lol, he sent me a pic of your car when I told him I planned to wrap mine!
Will do! So far the only tough area have been the front bumper (which we did in a few different parts, and made seams, so as to not risk trashing a huge piece of vinyl. We wrapped the grille area by itself so all we would have to do is be able to slightly overlap this area. I will try to get closer pictures of them bumper soon!
The other problem area was the a pillars. There is not much rubber to tuck the vinyl under on the tops, so we removed the a pillar and pulled the weather seal back a bit to be able to get a much nicer edge.
We also took apart the weather seal on the door, the mirrors and the door handles. I was rather disappointed to see that the handle and mirrors had caused some paint to wear on the door panel and some surface rust had formed. I carved out the rust and sealed it with touch up paint tho, so hopefully that will keep it at bay!
Haha, I will not be leaving it that way, but I have thought the same thing! They aren't terribly conflicting colors.
This vinyl is relatively thin (vs. the hexi vinyl I had used previously), but I do not know spec wise. A quick google search of 3m 1080 scotchprint series specs should give you more than enough info on the product. I bought this as a 50'x5' roll from autovinylsolutions.com's ebay store (which had much better prices and size selection than their actual website store).
Thank you, it is a ton of work. We are hoping to do this locally for people, and honestly I can see why (especially with the higher end cars) shop's can charge up to 5k a wrap. I'm not planning to be in that price range though lol.
I have about $450 invested in the material so far, and am not sure if it will be enough yet or not. I will comment on this later. I did rip some rather large sections of the material (maybe 8 ft? ) so I will comment once everything is done on how much material I really think someone would need. Keep in mind also I am removing all the panels so I can wrap around them, vs. the typical cheap shop method of wrapping the whole side, cutting between the panels with a razor and tucking the 1/8" or less bit of vinyl left over.
I have become very critical of the local work I have seen, it has been all full of corner cutting. That's the one thing I am trying to avoid with my car and any future cars. It kills me when people do things and don't take the extra 10 or 20% of the time to do it correctly. I also saw some stupid nice NSX's that when you walked up on them, you see the tons of faults and original red paint poking through, and another that was shittily plastidipped OVER an unremoved and peeling vinyl wrap. These were both vehicles a shop BROUGHT to a show to showcase their company, and while some people were hoot and hollering over them the quality of work made me nearly sick to my stomach.
I bought the vinyl from autovinylsolution on eBay!
That would be very cool. Just make sure you have at least one buddy willing to dedicate time with you to it, and be sure you're up to the challenge. Doing this whole car, and doing what I think is "correctly", I can see why most would rather pay a shop to wrap their car rather than do it themselves.
Thanks! And I agree, patience is a huge key. I have a very impatient friend who stops in to check out the wrap, and has to leave after a panel or two because he can't stand the time it takes lol.
There are a million colors of wrap anymore, and honestly it is amazing what you can do with it. I also think it's neat to see that cop cars and taxis are now mostly wrapped. I think it is awesome though to see the sports cars wrapped in non factory colors, and they stick out the most. Two neat examples are this 1M (not offered in red) and GT-R (not offered in orange). The wrap is an awesome way to get the owner's desired color without the cost, loss of resale, and "permanent-ness" of paint.

I understand you not liking the blue, especially with the red seats. It isn't bothering me too much yet, and I'm hoping with the whole car done it will look alright. We will just have to see!
I love the matte grey, just couldn't justify doing it because my car (and yours too, correct?!) was already dark grey. Just my personal decision. I do love this car though!
There's too many colors. Would love to see you get some more wrap going onto your car. I enjoy watching what you do with your car, because I know when you say it'll get done it gets done (gated shifter for example)!
Here's some new pictures out in the sun. Nothing new done yet, but am hoping to get some more done tonight.

It's been slow lately, but here's what's done now.
Both front fenders
Hood
Front bumper
Driver Side Skirt
Two of four mudguards
Driver Door
Driver Rear Fender
Driver A Pillar
Gas Door
Driver Mirror
Still to do
Rear Bumper
Hatch
Spoiler
Passengers door, A-pillar, side skirt, mirror
Extra Mud Guards
I have been taking some time away, and my friend and I have both been a bit busy with the holiday stuff going on and traveling out of town as well. Just ordered some more vinyl, some got torn due to cold temps and issues with 3m primer 94. Anyway, here are some pics! When things are all done, I will highlight some of the difficult areas on our cars.
Engine bay pic, to show where the vinyl went to (can get more if people are interested!)
Wrapped the B-Pillar just for the hell of it, to see what it would look like. I don't think I'll keep it, but wanted to see what a Z looked like with it because I'd never seen a body color B-pillar. Gonna wait till the hatch is done tho before I decide to remove it. Car's just sitting parked anyway!
Hoping to have some more updates in the next couple days, but this weekend at the latest. I keep joking with my friend that I hope we have the car done and put back together so I can drive it before the world ends later this month!

Thanks for the heads up! For the most part, we've stopped using it too except on the backsides to help things not lift. Curious, did you disassemble everything to wrap the car? Also, do you mind posting a few pictures of your mirrors? That's the only place I'm not totally happy with, the actual opening around the mirror isn't as clean as the rest of the car just because there's no decent trim to tuck into.

Looking awesome! I don't know if I would have the patience. Doing my window trim and bumper diffuser is plenty for me! haha
Be sure you keep it up with CG Meticulous Matte!

Very interesting, I've never seen that before! I need to finish this up, and just see how normal care treats the wrap but if I am looking for any products to try that will be the first. Thanks for the post
