Default Paint match issues on my 03 Chrome Silver...

Has anybody had success with Nissan (local or national) complaining about paint match issues with the bumper caps ands gas lid? Every day I look at my car I notice it more and more. Last week Baker-Jackson Nissan North here in Houston turned me down for a repaint. Is my next step to contact NNA?

My entire front bumper doesn't match the rest of the car. I was going to complain about it but I am getting a body kit anyways.

Well, is there any recourse with NNA? Anybody taken steps and had any success?

Greg,

You can open a complaint with NNA. They will most likely send out an independent paint inspector to look at it. The paint inspector that looked at my car said that the mismatch was normal for cars these days and not a defect.

If you want NNA to do anything, you will need to take it to an independent body shop of your own. See if they think the paint match is acceptable. If not, get an estimate to repaint all the parts. Then call NNA back. They may be willing to work with you, maybe split the cost.

As for mismatching repainting, if they couldn't match the paint, they didn't try very hard. The Daytona Blue color is the most difficult to match due to the very involved process and flop angles. That said, I have personally seen a Nismo kit on a DB Z that matched perfectly. Now, the shop did have to do 18 different test panels, but in the end it was perfect. This is something to keep in mind when getting an estimate; make sure they account for possible difficulty in matching the panels without having to feather the paint into the other panels.
