loose jadm shift knob

loose jadm shift ****
i just installed a jdm **** i got for xmas but after turning it all the way its still loose and the boot hangs down too low and i cant stand that. the kn0b came with just a polished nut that threads on to the shifter.. anybody know how i can sort this out
