Default 2006 Front Bumper Cover Mount Point

Ok nothing exciting here but I am having a hell of a time figuring out why the holes in my core support are way to big for the bumper cover clips.

I bought the car wrecked lightly above the rebar and this part of the core support was pretty much gone when i got it so I had no way to see how it was before.

I replaced the core support and bought 6 new clips (#2 on the parts diagram) but they fit very loose in the core support holes and don't do anything in a couple of those holes because they are twice the size as the clips?? The right side is virtually unclipped and sags a little.

I feel like I am missing parts but do not see anything in the part diagrams??

Anybody experience this before?

Do you have the metal brackets in place along the top edge of the core support?

Or, you may have the wrong clips. There are smaller ones which are made to fit the fender liners and trim panels in the engine bay, but only the bumper takes the big ones.
