This looks good.

one is where you take the internal of your own remote and put into the new one.

And the other is where you buy the whole item (no need to move parts), And get it programmed at your Nissan dealer.

Has anyone tried this? Better to buy the whole key or just the shell?

yeap nice flip key combo.. I had it on my 02 V6 altima, didnt had to go trough the dealer tho, just took it to locksmith get the key cut and there was a video on YouTube on how to self program the transponder and alarm control. my guess is that it should be the same on Zs from 03-06. google "how to program alarm on 350z see if you get any videos. . the whole key with the cut was like 70$ witch I think it was a good price. but if you take it to the dealership your looking at 150+

 

My wife's Acura TL-S came with a key like that, and I hate the damn thing. It weighs maybe 4 times as much as a standard separate key and remote, and it's not pleasant to carry around in your pocket. The gimmick wears off very quickly.
