Help on some body work
yeah i have done some serious thinking. its been a very long time coming. i started considering it a few years back and felt that after these many years and no change in heart id be happy with the choice and it wasn't an over night fad of mine. thank those of you who have assisted even though you hate the kit. anyone know a good place to start looking for custom wheel sets? i have never dealt wheel wise and i want this done right. think i could get some good wheels done for around 4 or 5 k? ( rubber not included) as for the black, thats a fiber glass bonding agent/ pre primer substance. the car will NOT look like that completed. thank god. thats so the panels and hand laid roof scoop will allow for good adhesion to the body and not pull away over time. i doused the whole thing black so it wasn't "blotchy" while in the works. i have gotten the sides nearly completed for dry fit and the front and rear bumper are now trimmed and back filled to fit snuggly. working a lower brace system now so the bottom edged don't flap in the wind. i want rigid.now the factory plastic inner fender wells are not going to function with the wider body, im looking at doing custom cut ones out of a hand cut sheet steel. does any one have any other product thats able to be worked and look good that will more closely mimic the factory plastics used? also a question im sure you guys get a lot... my headlights... the cover is badly weathered as i think the previous owner parked under a pine tree. where can i find replacement covers as id rather not buy new assemblies just for the clear clean look . i have tried to polish and those lens covers are just to far gone. thanks again everyone.
STOP just STOP!!!! Your in wayyy over your head! Your doing body work a shop should be doing, If you have to ask the questions your asking you don't need to be doing any of the said work., Your car is gonna look like a beaner and a mad scientists got ahold of it and the experiment blew up in their face.
Ok so by the looks of it your proceeding no matter what anyone says
. If you have questions pm me and we'll go from there. I'll try and atleast guide you the best I can so you have an idea of how to do whatever you have questions about. Just in case you're wondering I have 15 years experience in paint/body.

Blev, im not over my head on the body work side. i have done a lot of this stuff. ill admit the side skirt adhesion is a new area for me as i have never tried to get fiberglass and urethane to marry up as one before. otherwise im mostly looking for new ideas on the work im doing as the body industry evolves faster than a virus it seems. no matter how hard you try to stay on top of it newer and better methods come up. the other questions on wheels and lens covers is because i haven't had to order those before. simply asking where others have found theres at so i CAN do it right rather than a cheap jerry rigging. thats all.
op, are you sure the sideskirts dont sit over the oem ones? i had a pair of trial sides that was designed to be over the oem ones. weird i know. i cut my oem ones and molded it to be smooth. as for the fenders, either rivets or epoxy would be my mounting solution. best of luck.
ty bbs and weight. your help and ideas are much appreciated. yes the new sides do indeed require they be mounted to the stock. i have trimmed stock down but never molded fiberglass to urethane. so was wondering what others had used for such a pairing. neeko... i love it.. Picasso. ha ha ha maybe i should get new plates for it. right? as of yet i dont have any other pics that would be of and interest i dont think. the bumpers alone have taken many many many of hours just to do the build up for flanges and fine trimming for mounting. when it came in the only way to mount it was duct tape as there was nothing to even drill into for mount holes. so i have been doing alot of back end work that doesnt change the appearance of it. still looks terribad in the working.
When mounting bumpers with no hole locations put a piece of tape over the hole location push on the hole to push the tape in a little so it's not flat then put a dab of hardener from body filler on the tape. Then all you have to do is line it up and press the bumper up to the hole and the hardener marks the hole location for you. As long as you're not cross eyed when lining up the body lines it's as accurate as can be.

ok everyone. sorry its been so damn long since i posted here. had some issues keep me from getting tot he car for a long long time. i dusted her off last week though and dove in. here is where she sets right now. still smooth filling the kit into the factory body. decided to go unibody with it all. if all goes well ill be getting paint here soon for it.
terras, already is molded in. i modified the headlight so its easily removed without having to remove the front fender like it comes from the factory. this body kit was so ungodly rough that the amount of work to get the fender flares to line up smooth without being solid mold was just way to much. and theres planty of room since its such a massive nose to work behind it. yes i know its going to be a pain in the *** to do repair work on in the event of say a curb check. but once its completed it will be sold. the kit is fun to do but way to low setting for a daily driver. few more hours smooth filling and then it will be ready for paint and the nismo spoiler fitment.
