Angry corbeau a4 wide back flexing

Well after much debate I purchased a set of corbeau a4 wides with the seat cushions shaved 1", inflatable lumbar, suede material, etc...

Finally got the driver seat installed and not very happy with the results. The seat fits great, position is perfect but the seat back sways in the wind.

Under hard acceleration the seat back bends backwards closer to 3 inches!

I will be contacting corbeau later today but has anyone else experienced this issue. I simply cannot drive with this moving around so much.

Wow I was looking at these to replace my stock seats since I feel they have too much give when I am autox'ing. I feel like I am all over the place in the car while turning hard.

In for update after you speak with Corbeau.

Sorry to hear that dude! Its unfortunate that a reputable company would put out a sub-par seat. I only weigh 165lbs, so idk if it'll flex like that with my skinny a$$ in there, but it sucks none the less. I wonder what Corbeau has to say about this...

im emailing corbeau a few videos of the issue. They were very apologetic and want to get to the root so hopefully they make it right.

I don't want to start a smear campaign just yet.

May I ask how much you weigh?

By the way off topic but I am moving to Bonita Springs next year. I love Bonita and Naples area!

im 6'2" and about 240 lbs. Weight isn't really the issue bc 5 lbs pushes the seat back 2".

Corbeau warranty called back. They're emailing me a fedex shipping label to send the seat back. Possible solutions are tighten / correct assembly issue, have in house fabrication reinforce the hell out the seat, and/or give me a heavy discount on a single fixed back seat like the forza sport while keeping the passenger A4.

so far very happy with their customer service and handling of the issue.

Got a very easily overlooked email with a fedex tracking # yesterday. An email from Corbeau giving me a heads up and/or summary is my only criticism.

Called and spoke with them again and here was the result:

Seat's reclining mechanism bolts were loose, causing the flexing and apparently bending of the seat backs attachment point with my uber fast Z .

Due to the bending they built me an entirely new seat and shipped it fedex ground and should have it this coming Monday.

Overall very pleased with the customer support and warranty departments handling of the situation.

BTW if anyone needs to ship seats: hit up lowes / home depot for a water heater box. Was the perfect size to ship 2 seats back so I had to fill the void with empty boxes.

BTW the timeline is skewed a bit, it took me till September 19th to get the seat shipped from SW Florida to Utah.

UPDATE:

Well I got around after 4 weeks of hectic life events to putting the replacement seat in.

Its about 66% better than the last one but it still has too much flex in the back.

If I sit in the driver seat and push against the wheel my OEM seat doesn't move more than 1/8". My replacement Corbeau is still moving 1"......

I'll be contacting them again today, at this point I'm going to see if I can just pay to upgrade the driver seat to a solid carbon bucket (not sure which one yet).

I simply can't drive my car hard with the seat swaying back and forth.

Well unfortunately the overwhelming response from corbeau is a 1" flex with mild pressure (10 -15 lbs) is normal.

This simply is not acceptable to me for seats that cost over $1000 for the pair.

Their customer support has been awesome though and we went through their entire offering of fixed back seats. The closest we came to was the new Pro series carbon / kevlars wide version but they implied the 40" waist should really be 38".

Normally these seats would not be returnable due to the custom cushion shaving, 5th seat belt slot, etc but they have okay'd a return / refund minus customization labor charges which I'm fine with.

At this point I want a carbon fixed back seat that a bigger guy can fit in comfortably and be FIA approved. Any suggestions?

im thinking an evo II US which is meant for 38-40" waste.

Recaro ProFI xl, or Cobra Imola pro fit are also larger sized options.

id kill to be able to sit in one b4 buying.

By my current fitment of the A4 (23" wide at the shoulder bolsters, currently 1/16" off the door and centered on steering wheel) i've got about 3/4" I can shift my seat to the inside but will be off center.

The EVO II US is dimensioned at 23.6" at this point, EVO III is 25.6" which should require cutting into the door panel to clearance the seat.

The Sparco Pro 2000 II is 23.4" at the shoulder and 1" wider than the standard Pro 2000 in the butt/thigh area.

Gonna be doing a lot of measuring tonight and put the stock seat back in.

Probably make a spreadsheet so i can compare all the seats knowing how the A4s fit / feel.
