the "bmccann101s car gets a new look/ watch me suffer bodywork hell" thread
howdy.
So i decided to make a new thread for the body revamp im doing on my car.
Ive been pretty successful with car show wins since it came back to life over the last 6 months or so:
Pizza and Pistons II First place, Imports
DesertStreetScene First Place, Hottest Import
HIN PHX 2013 2nd place Nissan
HIN PHX 2013 Cleanest car
\
But still.. its time for a change..keep in mind the car is mostly a show car now.
My car looks cool in pics maybe, but just never sat right with me in person.. i always thought it looked dated, and i dont like the long nose, especially from the side view. All i ever wanted it for the the over fenders anyways lol.
So long story short, im removing all the veilside components, wrapping them in bubble wrap and throwing them in the shed.
Here's repeat shots from other threads of what my car looks like now, most of you have seen these already a million times, etc:
The new body will consist of:
authentic JP Vizage Type N front bumper
Aerosync/Nismo Type 1 front bumper
AMS GT rear bumper
vented front fenders
replica Veilside over fenders ( they are getting cut to pieces.. leaving my authentics alone and safe for reuse or sale later).
Ive had these cut away front fenders for a year or two now.. and its time to get this thing going.
Ive always wanted a new look, and after seeing the Bensopra GTR and the other TRA Kyoto designed cars like the Rocket Bunny 240 and Rocket Bunny Hatchi Roku FRS, I realized there's a more functional way to get this car looking mean, and it will lend itself to much easier body work as well.
pics of the parts i chose:
JP type z in front of my car at my friend Eds shop, EAC.
Nismo Type 1 bumper
Front fenders: (car is djlizards)
AMS GT rear:
Here's a bit of my inspriation....
Yeah that just happened ^
So I had a friend do some fast rough photoshops to see how things are going to line up...
Should be legit.
Rear wing is having 2 inch spacer pieces created to raise the wing up a bit, give me some better rear visibility, plus it will be aggressive as hell.
Front bumpers are going on quick release and dzus fasteners.. tired of bumper removal PITA factor being the reason i procrastinate doing repairs. The Nismo v1 style bumper is going to be the one that lives on the car most days, with the JP bumper comming out for shows etc... that is one HUGE front lip/curb taster.
Not 100% sure on what side skirts i will go with yet, but most likely something flat like the JP sides or Do Luck sides. Ed has a metal break at his shop, so making diffusers, canards and side skirt wings will be a snap... so ill be getting pretty aggressive with those.
Expect the car to appear in a completely ridiculous matte color also.. maybe army green, smurf blue, dark metallic charcoal gray, etc. Dont know yet.
Headlights and rear turns are being reworked as well.. CCFLs are being ditched, and LEDs are going to be used, with some parts and help from Flipper_z (Zleds.com)
I have a lot of work to do, and I wont have progress pics for a month or two im sure. The loose parts will get bolted on losely and mocled up, photos taken, then more photoshoping and sketching to figure out where its all getting cut and smoothed, etc.
All hardware that will be visible will be switched to real titanium as well. (fender screws/bolts etc)
My Chrysler is still in the shop for its build but thats coming to an end very soon. All aero parts have already been ordered up... thanks to Fred in marketing at VIS for the semi sponsorship deal.. and props for findings me an authentic Type N bumper! cant tell you how much i appreciate that for sure.
Anyways, thats all for now. My dreamer posts somehow always turn into reality,. so yeah.. here it is. Stay tuned. This is happening, so there's no looking back now.

the more i look at all this stuff, the more i want to mold the entire front end and front tilt it..
how rad would it be to have a feature like that which is fully functional and makes ur car easier to work on? dunno..we will see how good at fiberglassing i get i guess. lol
still waiting on parts..( i havent had them shipped yet.. still deciding on some extra parts..sharing shipping etc ) and this is still a back burner kind of deal.. im still down to one car w my Chrysler getting wrapped up this week..
fingers crossed.

like the plans and direction you are taking with the car. think the jpvizage front will suit it better. maybe even a cwest front.
also been trying to figure a front tilt option but have no fiberglass experience and not sure how to go about it.
know you asked me about some photochops a while back but was a bad time in life for me. figured this is the least I can do to help if any
