Only thing I don't like which might be a visual thing because it's all black, but it seems to end abruptly right by the fender line?

Luckily I'm quite satisfied and actually very happy with it.

Angry 5/28/20 rip to my engine... but eff me right?

welp.... cant make this kinda sht up.

/ thread.

jk. But to those who already follow my social media accounts ..... you already know that my built, forged and finally "fixed" engine popped on the dyno yesterday.

We say popped ....because it was majorly down on power form last time ( 547whp down to 474whp), sprayed coolant out of the rad cap.. and is now makin a very scary rattle noise a bit off the deck idle, 1500-1800 rpms.
Head gasket? Rod bearings?
Quick fix or total rebuild?

Dont know yet as I'm leaving everything as is until i can get someone over to the house to listen briefly and give me a solid opinion before we start tearing down the engine ..yet again.

I had my emotional moment; disbelief.... then total " of course this would happen" belief.

Can i give up? lol.. no. I am way too far into this thing.

Can i afford this? Absolutely not .... and im really hoping its caught before anything is too bad to save.

If I have to rebuild, I will most likely part out the nearly brand new turbo and fuel system, and move over to an LS2 with ls# heads and call it a day for now.

My HP will drop in half, but it will be easy to build back up, and will be an engine that can afford me far less headache.
Id much rather keep what i have and fix it and be done however.

I am way past burnt out on wrenching right now, yet it looks like my hand is forced back into it, yet again.

So i will continue to finish the body , finish the carbon door swap, the wrap etc etc..

I will post pics as usual, but know that the car is going nowhere this summer after all.

If it's pissing coolant out the radiator and/or reservoir than you likely blew your head gasket pretty bad.

do a compression test to see where your losing compression (and coolant)…

Can you link a video of the engine running?

Likely a quick fix if it's just the heads … get the heads machined, new head gaskets, check the block for flatness and reinstall everything

unless you spun a bearing, in-which case time to part out...blown head and bearing issues = ruined weekend.

have you dropped the oil? any gold flakes?

I know you'll persevere.

Brian, dude, sorry to hear this turn of events. But looking at it with my usual humor to get through difficulties (and hope you take it as such as well), didn't I say something to the effect of "Finished?? Psh, I know you better than that."

But ya, not sure what I can offer but if you need anything, I'm sure the community's got yer back!

Sorry to hear, it sucks. I don't think it would be in the cards given what you said, but with as far as you have gone with the car would you consider running a GTR engine since you were planning to swap to a DCT anyway. That would be that ultimate build I think.

I've only been subscribed to this thread for maybe a month now (of course reading through every single post), but hearing this just hurt me as well. I was looking forward to seeing her finished, shined up, and getting dirty again from hot rubber slinging.
it's obvious you know what you want, but my opinion would be (if it's toast) to go 2jzgte swap instead of LS. I get some people like the shear raw power and potential of those LS's, but the JZ is really the same way if not more when it comes to potential.
But anyways, my condolences sir.

Hot compression test was fine.. All ran to 150, one cycl ran to 153, all took the same crank time to build compression (8.5:1)
Drained water, looked fine. (only used distilled water and water wetter, easy to see contaminants)

Dropped the oil pulg and boom.. Glitter in the oil.

No chunks poured out, but something definitely died inside the bottom end.. So I'm sending the oil out to a lab ahead of time... See what kind of metals etc are in the oil.

The engine will need to be removed and broken down. At least this is a for sure at this point.

If I can just fix what I've got, that's what I will do.
