Default Painting My Z

Bought a red 2007 roadster a month ago. A real creampuff, Enthusiast, only 18k miles. Now that I have had it home for some time and have washed and waxed, I notice the chipped spots on the front of the hood, quiet a few of them. Also, there is a little scrap on the front bumper. I would like to have the hood and bumper painted so the car would be as near perfect as possible.

For those with the knowledge of this, please post opinions and advice. My paint and body guy said the bumper would have to be taken off to paint. I am going to continue talking to him, trying to get him down in price and give me a firm quote.

Just a little concerned about the paint matching the rest of the car. Please tell me what you think is the pros and cons and your best advice. Thanks

Brand new paint will never match perfectly with 6-year old paint, no matter how well it was maintained.

If you are OCD enough to let those small imperfections bother you (no offense meant I understand where you're coming from) then you will definitely notice the difference between your newly painted parts and the rest of the car.

I got that. Would not like noticing a difference, especially spending $600 + on the painting. Key is the ability of the paint mixer to perfectly match the paint. He did a perfect match on a motorcycle gas tank and a rear quarter on a silver Acura MDX. So he I'd good. Question is will it still be noticeable given even the best paint matcher?

I'm no expert but have painted numerous items. The paint is very hard to match perfect. there is No such thing as a "perfect" painter. best they will be able to do is blend the new paint into the existing which requires re-clearing the exiting part ie: your bumper into fenders, fenders intoid door etc. I'd say best bet is to repaint the entire car at once when it comes time. if it bothers you that bad have him blend into hood/fenders etc. Just my .2.

It depends on the painter. I had a new OEM bumper and hood painted/installed on my Carbon Silver '08 last November, and the match is perfect. In fact, the match on the bumper is better than when the car was new. Granted, some colors are tougher to match than others.
