I bought a used rear hatch off a 2006 Z to replace the damaged one on my 07. When I pulled the interior trim pieces off I noticed this black box bolted to the interior of the rear hatch. There isn't one in my 07. There are no wires going to it. Anyone know what it is?

 

Counterweight , remove it

 

Done. Less weight will help my failing hatch struts too.
