Default USB install in Center Console

I bought a new radio for my 06 350z. It has a USB connection that I bought an extension for. I was hoping to put it in the glove box between the seats. I was wondering if there was anything below that box. My plan was to drill hole in the bottom and run the extension to the radio. I need about 1.5 inches of clearance. Any input would be very helpful. I have searched the forum and I would just take the thing apart, but I am on the road for work and hoped for a shortcut. Thanks again..

There is plenty of room to run the wire up to the glove box. I have my remote for my digital EQ in the glove box.

You're good.

You might even run the wire up to one of the cubbies in the top. Don't have to flip a seat forward to get up there.

This is exactly what I did with mine. I drilled two holes side by side slightly smaller than the usb. Then filed it down so it was a snug fit. I then JB welded the plug in the hole and left it over night, its solid. I'd advise you to put it on the side wall of the cubby, not the bottom reason being to stop any crumbs or other crap from getting into the plug. Good Luck

They make USB plug mounts. But making a small rectangle hole is time consuming.

Plenty of room, I ran my RCA wires through that center console to my amp. Also ran my speaker wires up the other side of the console to the harness behind the head unit.

But it is a pain in the *** to get that console pulled apart, and then to try to get all the wires stuffed back up in there.

Plan on a couple of hours of fun.

You can also put the USB in the cubby box over the radio, like I did:

good luck!

What do you plan on using it for?

I have a Kenwood DDX470 that has a USB cable. I planned on mounting it somewhere as well but honestly, since I have bluetooth I dont even use it.
Only time was to set a Z wallpaper on my computer and I needed a thumbdrive for it. Right now I have it under the "ash tray" in between the electric seat controls. I might throw it in the rear cup holder though.

I was thinking about putting it above my radio, but I decided that I wanted to install a GPS unit instead. And I really don't want that much "clutter" in there.

I was planning on using it with my IPOD/IPHONE. I know that my iphone will hook up with blue tooth, but I would prefer it to charge through an USB then a cig lighter. Plus, I could just dl all my music to a thumb drive and use that. I just thought it would be nice to have the option but not see said option.

Thanks for all the help.
