Default New Painted Bumper Question

Hi just got a N2 rep bumper painted and installed on my Z 10 days ago. I also purchased a new Nissan Emblem/Badge. I attaches via 3M double sided tape.

How long should I wait before sticking on the new Badge? I know the general rule of thumb is 30 days for waxing and such, but does this also apply to applying the Badge?

Worse thing I want to happen is for the paint to peel off if I would ever need to remove the Badge. Maybe I answered my own question but wanted to get your thoughts as adding the Badge will be the finishing touch I've been waiting for.

Xirtam, The paint finishing world is slowly changing over from quick drying/curing volatile organic compound solvent (bad for the environment) paint, to waterborne paint. One difference with the waterborne is a longer drying and curing time. Just like old school paint, a warm low humidity climate speeds complete curing time. As you live in California, all the old school paints are outlawed. Most likely the color coats are waterborne with possibly the top clear coat a low voc urethane. You can check with the paint shop about how long before waxing etc, if you follow the 3m directions for removing the tape, you shouldn’t have a problem with damaging the urethane clear coat.

Nobody can really give a definitive answer without knowing the type of paint. And the equipment used to initially set/dry it.

Thanks! You know quite a bit about paint. When I picked up my car, the shop owner said it was okay right then and there to stick on the decal. I've been waiting and playing it safe. I know they use Dupont paint but not sure about type and equipment.

Body shops stick them on within a day or two at the most. Typically the paint tech paints it one day, then the body tech assembles everything the next. Unless it's baked in the booth.
