Default Fuel Filler Door Won't Open

Had some body work done to right rear quarter panel. Now the fuel filler door won't open. There is no repsonse when I press the release button.

The FSM has very little info about fuel filler door. I did find the fuse location but have not checked it yet. Did a Google search and can't find much.

Anyone have any ideas what this might be and how to fix it if it is not the fuse? Also, how do you access the release plunger? Not much access to it from the filler door area (I pried it open). I'm assuming you have to remove luggage area trim?

Hoping for a quick fix. I can take it back to the body shop but if it is an easy fix I'd rather do it myself.

Thanks.

If it is not the fuse, Take the trim pieces out of the trunk on the passenger side and you should be able to see the connector that goes to the actuator for the fuel door, that may be unplugged. If that is not it, I would say it is probably a bad actuator which is a dealer part, the part number is 78850-CD060 or alternate part number 78850-CD06A, List price for them is $108.67, however, depending on the dealership's price matrix, it may be a little more.

Thanks guys. I know that the actuator worked after the crash so I hope it is a fuse or that the body shop just didn't re-connect it. If the actuator is shot I might just have to remove it and use some duct tape .....$100 sounds kinda crazy.

Yeah, dealer parts aint cheap for these cars, luckily I work in the parts department for a Nissan dealer so I get them for about half to 70% off

I got the rear hatch and driver door from a salavge yard so I might be able to find an actuator there. Thanks again.

Be careful when removing the new one, the plastic rods are relatively easy to break
