Default 921 LED light photos

those of you familiar with the Z are probably wondering why you care about a 921. good question, the only thing it remotely is made for is the back up light of the G35.

however, it will fit in the same socket as the 168bulb that both Z and G use all over.

still confused? Its bigger and biggers better when you fit twice as many LEDs.

yet to be determined if I can fit 3. pretty good chance though.

that is correct, 2 luxeon LEDs per bulb. yes they are brighter, yes significantly so, and lastly yes, I can sort of upgrade the 168 bulbs. I would reuse the LEDs which are a majority of the cost.

dont get too anxious, the order of the bases wont be in for 30-45days. just a tease for now.

next up festoon bulbs for the interior.

Will these "throw" more light backwards than the stock reverse bulbs? Or just be whiter?

not likely.

not yet anyway. its possible to fit it with a more powerful LED, with more efficient cooling, and pulse a high current. they make flashlights from these LEDs, so in theory it should be extremely bright. Ive never toyed with them, the LEDs are 50$ a peice, eventually Ill mess around with them, but just havent yet.

I say get the interior kit together first... everything, dome lights, trunk lights, door lights, etc etc...

Trunk/Cargo area
Part number = 168

done!

only other bulbs are the 2 reading dome lights, they are the festoon bulbs that are waiting to be worked on tomarrow.

not aware of any door lights though.

parking lights, corner lights, and liscense plate lights, and trunk light.

anywhere a 168 bulb would go almost. the base will fit into the same socket, but it is dependent on the size of the hole whether the head of the bulb will fit.

in the case of the parking lights, if you look, youll notice the opening is huge compared to the size of the bulb. easily fitting the larger size. this means larger heatsink, larger resistors, and thus room for more LEDs.

I cannot say with 100% certainty that this holds true for every vehicle, the Z just happens to have an oversized hold for the parking light.

Can you do a light comparison of the single against the double? What about heat, longevity, etc?

Ohh in that case then I'll hold out for this double LED light for the front. What is the cost expected to be for it compared to the single light?

it will likely be about double, might be 55$, youll get a 15-20$ discount if you send in your 168bulbs.

heat/longevity, should be as good as or better. Ill take come comparison photos today.

funny you should ask.

I have yet to determine which length bulb the 350Z uses, if it is this longer bulb, 99% chance I can fit 2 in there. there is also a shorter bulb size, of which I would only be able to fit 1.

as you can, see this is with 1.

Hehe.... that's cool!

It's nice to make festoon bulbs than retro fitting the Stars.... it's not fun.

The only thing that sucks about LEDs is the narrow path of light. 2 would definitely be better if you can fit it. Keep us posted, Im very interested!! I already changed my cargo area light.

assuming I had the 2 for 55$, is there any point to a 3 or 4LED bulb? Im just curious, youd be getting on up to 75-100$ a set for 3 or 4LEDs. I dont have any LEDs left to play with, so no pictures.

dj-
the festoon is nice to use too, these are factory rejects. though when I opened it up realized they are all easily fixable, but not the point. I just wanted the casing. they fit the part very nicely. the ends conceal the resistors and the LED sits in.

need to figure out how to install it into the car. Ill wait for a nicer day though.

I was told 45days. all I need is the wedge base which is ordered from overseas.

I can buy the LED bulbs and take out the little LEDs. but its pretty pricey at ~10$ a set just for the wedge part and toss the electronics. if anyone really wants these NOW for 65$ it can be done.

well i dont know about paying 75 for the interior just for more LEDs but if the path of light is narrow, it would be good to have at least 2. but id still be curious to see how 1 looks in the car.

2bulbs in the festoon should end up at about 50.

I will put them in the car next weekend and take more photos. I dont want to install them untill I have 1 for each side with 2 each. not enough LEDs for all that.

can this just plug and play in the dome light? i noticed it's 12V 10W instead of 12V 8W like the original... would this cause problems in the electrical sys? how's this diff then yours??
I woud like to make the trunk and reading lamp brighter...
