Default Mounting a smaller rear view mirror?

Hey gang,

Noticed that the rear view mirror is about twice as big as it needs to be since you only see through the hatch window opening which is much more narrow of a view than the mirror would allow...the rear view mirror is about twice as tall as that view through the rear window is....

Also noticed the mirror is wider than it needs to be...so...

since the mirror can block some of forward view since it's so big, I'm wanting to put in an old school manual mirror that is much smaller than oem....any suggestions on what fits and what looks like it would blend in visually?

Has anyone else done this? Pics? Happy with result?

Thanks as always,

Never seen a smaller mirror used in a Z33, although I use a non-Homelink mirror in the racecar to save a bit of weight. There are also some Z racecars I've seen that use a wideview Wink type mirror for a panoramic view behind them.

Wink type mirror...looks like I'm gonna go down Google Rd and take a learning adventure...not familiar with that, thx for the heads up.

Thx to all who have shared input, keep the ideas coming, thinking it would be great to have some old school classy mirror in there for style.

If this goes according to plan I'll try to post up some pics. Working on a few projects at once right now..not sure where this one will fall.

I just got my Z about 4 hours ago and I completely agree, that rear view mirror takes up a ton of real estate

Yeah I'm still looking around...if I find a good solution I'll touch base...if I knew how to do the glass portion of the mirror I'd probably make my own shell and use the mounting hardware from the oem.
