Default Z Pattern tail-lights on ebay -Anyone have these?

Hello all,

I've been searching for a while for something like this. I saw a guy a while back on youtube that had custom made his tail-lights to light up with a Z and last night I found these tail-lights.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clear-black-...-/121493918571

Does anyone have these and can tell me about their quality, brightness, et cetera? I would really like to know before taking a $400 dollar gamble on whether they are a quality product which shines in an efficient and safe way. Thank you all .

I like black housings and I thought the Z effect was an unique effect for the car. I like things that some others will not for my car just like I am sure I probably would not like some things about your car. But, I would keep them to myself. But, back on topic...

I don't have them, but if you do decide to take the gamble, I have heard horror stories of people's ECU wreaking havoc due to the voltage drop from ebay LED tail lights (unless they are the OEM or JDM). You may need to add some load resistors back there to avoid this.

If you're willing to drop a little more cash and you want the blacked out housing look, you may want to check out the JDM tail lights and then black out the housings yourself.

Thanks man, yeah I know it is definitely taking a gamble sometimes. I've had good/bad experiences respectively when I was outfitting my other car with black housings. I love the look, but you are definitely right, you have to choose very very wisely when it comes to after-market lights. That is why I am so wary now.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, albeit I did not ask for whether you thought it was, "ghey" or not. I simply posed the question of whether anyone has it in on their vehicle and can speak in terms of quality, brightness, et cetera.

My only problem with these are when you step on your brakes, it'd look like it says "52" to the uninitiated and unknowing amongst the 99.8725% of drivers sharing the road. Heh heh. Just messin' with ya, OP.

Also to quote the ebay page

"The taillights have a SAE DOT approved, but no E-mark, so not allowed on public roads"

Dont cause yourself unnecessary issues.

Default Z Tails....

You asked an opinion.....and that is what you are getting....
Chill out a bit brother...I think you are going to find most people don't like those.
In my opinion I would never put those on my car... I see some people on the road that have them and it reminds me that I do not like them....
In my opinion I would go with the stock 06+ LED tails---have them smoked if you like the dark tails..
Do a search on those lights on this forum and you will see what others think.
If you like them buy them----it really doesn't matter if others don't like them
Good Luck

Yes, I did see that note. However, living in the US I don't have to worry about the, "e" code since it is strictly for euro standards whereas dot/sae are obviously ours in the US. But I understand the overall point you were trying to make .

I dislike them. I saw them on a passing Z and they just looked awful. Also these "Z" taillights reminded me of the "H" Honda ones i see quiet often.

I was able to find another thread, but only another where people saying whether they like them or not. Which is not what I am interested in obviously. I wanted a first-hand account from someone who had tried and tested a set. I cannot smoke my tail-lights in my state. Unfortunately, it is very very strict with inspections and I would not pass with smoked lenses. 90% of people I see pulled over are due to not having an inspection sticker.

haha, I thought it was odd too at first. But, I think it is more about symmetry more than anything and that is why the other one is reversed. It would be nice if instead of LED dots it was a solid bar light. Would look pretty interesting then..

I never like those tail lights. Now that Mic mentions it...it does look like a "52". I contemplated many different taillights for my Nismo build before I went with the JDM tails. I dont like the chrome much, so I will either tint the front pointy part of the tail light where the reflectors are, or open them up and blacken the chrome.

All the pictures I am seeing don't really give me a good idea if they are bright enough.
