Default turn signal pictures

well I had a design for a turn signal. it was good in theory. problem was it didnt fit. and thats a big problem.

Ive finally given up on that, in favor of lower profile appearance.

it includes 4 wide angle LEDs running at 165mA. it is clearly visible for sure.

I have others, but in all of them(including the one above) the camera went into "oh crap" mode. Im gonna install them and take more photos, since thats what really matters anyway.

wont be any pictures of dome lights or any of that this weekend, I didnt get any of those LEDs.

Heh.. that's the same design I've got working on, except it's slightly different and I'm using different input current.

This will be a summer project.

I expect ~90$ for a set. which is lower than previously expected on these.

Been following your LED adventures for some time and I have to ask a really dumb question. Why?

I guess I can see it for the parking lights (its so you get a nicer bluer light? They look really good), but I'm a bit confused by the turn signal replacement. In the photo it looks pretty similar to a regular bulb?

Thanks

Stuart

it is pretty similair when on. some benefits, its not amber when its not on, thats probably the biggest benefit. also it blinks "crisp-ly" which is nice as an added bonus. and itll last longer than you'll be alive with normal use

also you have the lesser perk, low current draw.

I know its not for everyone, but it is pretty cool. the most interesting benefit here is the ability to use the size and design in the tail light, where you will can take better advantage of the instant on trait.

I've heard of concept cars at auto shows having LED low-beam lights. Would that be possible to do on the 350Z? Could LEDs achieve something as bright as the Xenon HIDs?

Thanks Ares.

I guess some of the flexibility allows you to do some cool stuff.

I saw you did some tests on tail lights too. I think that would be great because it seems like the design of the Z got compromised a bit at production stage to keep costs down.

hmmmm.... *ponders staying in the evostyle group buy*

Ares, Id also be interested to know if your LED turn signals make your blinkers blink really fast. I know thats one of the problems with some of the cheaper LED turn signals.

as is, yes they do. it causes the car to think a bulb is blown since it draw so little current.

you can get a large resistor to simulate a working bulb, but you offset the low current traits of having the LED to begin with. the resistors arent particularly cheap(5-6$ each and you need 2) and they wont fit in the bulb so they have to be added to the wiring with splices ect, which I want to stay away from.

macgyver or djtonium had posted a link to a modified relay circuit that correct the problem at the cause, I havent yet investigated whether the Z will work with that or if the whole system it uses to control the lighting will be far more complicated to change.

...wasn't me. :-P

I like the blinkers the way they are since they're LED... if they were fast flashing incandescents, then they'd get annoying.

Finalized price? Got me some deals?
Man... ares, you are really suckin' all my money!
Also, is the set contains 4 LED lights? (2 for front, 2 for rear)
Lastly, did you get the LED sidemarkers I sent you?

just as soon as I get them in my car for a week or 2 and ensure they are reliable.

price will probably be around 90, as always, deals for multiple peices(you obviously qualify)

the price is only for a pair. again, probably a deal for a 4set package.

lastly, yes I did.
