so i just added leds to the buttons, super complicated and had to add transistors and yada yada.




i like the 06 style mirror better since it has covers over the photocell sensors. i cracked it open to do the same thing but it is laid out completely differently and not to mention the buttons arent even translucent. they are completely opaque, even though there are spots for the leds on the board.

people on fb said their 07 and 08 touring and enthusiast models have illuminated buttons. if so i can just buy one crack it open and swap the actual leds. wondering if someone who does have illuminated buttons can take a pic of their mirror, all the ones im seeing on ebay look the exact same as my 06 g35 mirror which has opaque buttons. and if you can take a pic of the back which shows the model that would be perfect.

The later mirrors are model GNTX-453. Here's the one in my '08, and although it's the same model number, I swapped it for one from a Subaru to get the amber compass display. Even though the model number is the same, you'll find many different variations. The older cars had the GNTX-313.

 

do your homelink buttons illuminate when the front photocell is covered?

Previously, I had another compass mirror with a blue display, and it didn't, either. I've never seen one with illuminated buttons.

 

yeah im getting the feeling the guys on fb dont know what they are talking about. after searching more, i dont think any of them have illuminated buttons
