Default Cold air always blows out defroster vents

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I'm having a minor issue with my 2004 350z.
My windshield defroster always blows air on the windshield no matter what my air setting is set on. It will change temperature between cold and warm but air is always coming out of the defroster even when the settings are on head or feet only. Most annoying when it's raining out and my windshield fogs up so I have to run the heat in my car when it's already hot out (in Florida so it's almost always hot). Thank you for any help!

Welcome and it always helps to post whether this is a new problem with your Z, or has it always existed? Have you done any mods that might have resulted in the HVAC controls being disconnected?

Thank but i noticed it a few weeks ago and I haven't done any modifications to the car besides aftermarket speakers but that had nothing to do with the center console. So I guess the issue has always existed I just haven't really noticed it till recently. Any advice?

You'll probably need to pull the center console and check the connections of the white ribbon control behind the HVAC *****. There may also be BCM codes in memory that could indicate specific failures. Time for you to search and learn more about your Z!
