Default Rust in trunk

Hi guys,

I found this random spot of rust in my trunk area under the strut bar while I had my interior out (installing reverse camera). Any idea where this would be coming from? Is there any areas that are prone to leaking that would cause water to accumulate there? This spot is covered by the plastic liner and carpet.

Thanks!

Normally I would say replace the metal. But in this case, the damage not being any worse, and being you absolutely killed the rust. I say GOOD REPAIR! Keep up the good work.

I don't think that rust spot was caused by a leak in the rear hatch. It's no where near the wiper arm assembly, latch, or outer seal.

I suspect that's old, probably from some kind of liquid spilling in the trunk. I would treat the area, remove the rust and paint over it to prevent it from growing further.

Cheers!
