Just FYI - IMRacing charges an insane shipping price. On a popcharger they wanted 32 dollars to ship.. that's excessive!
Contact Wicked4u2c.. you'll be glad you did

The hood works by venting off the hot gasses in the engine bay. As the car goes forward air gets pushed trough the mouth of the bumper. And in an F1 example through the intercooler. If air goes in the engine it has to come out somewhere. So thats where the vents on the hood comes to play. Its a pathway for air to travel.
As far as Rain damage on a FI setup with those hood. I'll let this second pic speak for itself.
Imagine youre stuck in traffic and its raining pretty hard. Look at the vents of my Hood and look at where the intake filter of the turbos sit. You have a perfect combination for trouble. I dare not drive this car in the rain.

Thats not a Seibon one Jason has
BTW, the single reverse hood from Seibon is now not shipping out due to fitment problems...I think the latch is the issue (similar issue to what I am having on my TS, though Seibon tells me I am the only one so far ) I know the Seibon hoods have a removable shield to cover the vents when it rains. As far as water getting sucked into the intake, granted its not desirable, but your

As Z1 Performance said, there is a slight fitment issue, but it's so minor. All you have to do is slightly raise our latch, and to do this there is 3 bolts. Just loosen the bolts, raise it up a bit, then retighten it. Shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes tops.
Second, personally I wouldn't even drive the Z in the rain. Not only because it's a weekend car, but because it doesn't get very good traction in wet weather, but if you must drive, I'm sure you can always get a custom made cover for the vents. And as Z1 said, the benifit of getting a seibon is you get a removable sheild to cover the vents.
If you contact Wicked4u2c as I said above, I'm sure he can work out a really fair deal on these hoods. I believe he has all styles in stock and ready to ship, not to mention a very fair shipping price as well.

My TS hood should be on by next week, along with the rear valence
I for one drive this Z everyday - out of the 2 I own, this one is far and away much more streetable. Its been perfectly fine in the rain - its the snow it could not handle !
I cannot fathom driving it daily without the covers on, so thats what i will be doing. The only reason i purchased it for my car is the looks of the vents (I am not even leaving it carbon fibe on my car, its getting painted). For track days and shows we'll take the covers off...for daily driving they will go on so as not to get the engine bay filthy

as i said before, i had an open engine cover.
if you have seen an MR2, you know the engine lid is slotted, and i removed the rain guard. so basically any rain that fell, fell on top of the valve cover and everythin else under there.
in over 20,000 miles of driving in the rain and snow of Illinois and Iowa, i never had one problem. ( i drove the black one year round)
i dont think the slots would be much of a problem.
