well i messed with it again lastnight before my hood pins went in. it is touching the strut bar just a little where it bows up on both sides. the vents with the covers off ( still pissed about that!) do touch the covers on the car. but it DOES latch all the way. i drove it for a whole day with out the pins! now that the pins are in. i feel MUCH better. i didnt want to shear the hood off. (that statement is meant for ANT c/f hood! ) its just not safe with out them! i tried removing the STB thismorning along with the bat/brake covers to see how it fit, and it was about the same. so i put them back. it seems a "LITTLE" raised up along the center edges on the sides. VERRY LITTLE! but im a perfectionist!? let me try to sum up the key points im trying to make here.

1. quality is AWSOME!
2. the raised portion i mentioned is very small/ no one but me will notice.
3. it does touch the STB (small dots on underside of the hood where it touches.)
4. the vants rest on the covers under the hood. but i dont see any marks showing stress.
5. yes "my" hood latched all the way before my hood pins were in.
6. no i didnt pay $800+s/h. ($750 shipped to my house)
7. yes its an authentic knock off! j/k! it IS a seibon! not a fake!
8. HOOD PINS ARE A MUST WITH ANY C/F HOOD!!!!!!!!

i hop you find this helpfull. o, Z1 the hood is lined up PERFECTLY with the front bumper! perfectly! must be my hood pins??? but its perfect now! would i buy this hood again........probably, but i might have gotten the singal scoop instaed. but yes i would buy another seibon hood! the fitament of the hood was promissed to be perfect or my money back. wich im SURE if i had complaind, i could have been refunded. but i liked the hood so much, i decided to make it work. im happy i did. i just wich the vent covers wouldve fit! i had planned to post some pics for Z1 and the rest of you, but i relized an hr ago my camera bat is DEAD. its on the charger now, so ill get some picks up this afternoon.

Alright , regarding the VS style:

I ordered mine from Wicked4u2c. I paid very close to what he's asking, $800 shipped, and I got what I expected.

Let me state this before I give my opinions on the hood... NO aftermarket hood, trunk, hatch, doors, ect ect, fit PERFECTLY. There is always a small imperfection in fitting. Take example my friends S2K trunk, paid over $2400 for, and his carbon fiber hood by Top Secret, which was over $1500, do not fit perfectly.

That said...

The Seibon hood is one of the best hoods I seen. The weave is near perfect, there is very very small imperfections in my hood. Imperfections which NO ONE will ever see unless they examine the hood, as I did when I got it. The only imperfection in the hood is on the vent, the weaving is VERY slightly crooked. The edges are very smooth, perfectly straight, no chips. The clearcoat is more than enough, very smooth finish, feels like glass!

The installation:

Seibon doesn't provide bolts, so I had to run out to Sears to grab them. As Z1 (I think it was him) said earlier, you will need 4 12mm bolts about 1 inch long. So after buying the bolts I removed stock hood and put the Seibon VS hood on. I tried to see if it'd close without raising the latch. It would click, but wouldn't shut all the way. So then I raised the latch, it's simply loosening 3 bolts, raise, and re-tighten. Takes no more than 2 minutes. After that, I tried to shut the hood. It took a little tweeking of the bolts, but withen 10 minutes I could shut it.

Upon shutting it, I realised the left side is slightly higher. I called Seibon and Fusion Manufacturing to see what can be done. I was told there is rubber under the stock hood which should be removed and then put on the carbon fiber hood. The holes in the Seibon hood were filled in though, but they were there. So I'm going to have a shop carefully drill them in. This will allow my to put the rubber in the hood to even out the gap in the front.
Along with this, they are adding hoodpins. This is just because it's safer to get hoodpins with any carbon fiber hood, or any aftermarket hood for that matter, as said by DeeZee.

Even right now, without the rubber on the hood, I am more than happy. It has a slight gap, but not even noticeable unless you point it out. And I'm sure with the rubber and hoodpins, this hood will be perfectly.

Personally, I'm more than pleased with this hood. And even though they stoped making this hood for a few months, I have this hood for a few months before anyone else.. haha. I'm glad I bought this hood.

And just so everyone knows, if you plan to get hoodpins and the hood drilled for the rubber (which I highly recommend a profressional do, as Chebosto said in an old post, please read up on it if you do decide to do it by yourself), expect to pay around $100-$120, including cost of the hoodpins. That is what I'm paying to get it done.

I'll post tomorrow soon as I get everything straightened away, as well as take pictures.

Hope this helps!

PS - I ran into an old friend, he freaked out when he saw the hood, and examined it. He said "This is one of the best hoods I've seen, how much did you pay, $1200 atleast?!"

I played along and said, "Somewhere around there "...

Just goes to show the quality

DeeZee,

2 questions..

1) Where in Va are you? I'm in Fairfax, so if you want to one day, we should meet up

2) Why do you have an Injen AND AEM decal on your car? I can see why you have Recaro and Sparco (Seats (Recaro) and Hoodpins (Sparco), but Injen and AEM?

Ricky - thanks - I did not think aout raising the hood latch assembly itself on my car (mine is a TS style) - perhaps I'll try that as well tomorrow.

This has beena really informative thread guys....I am sure Seibon will appreciate all the effort we are putting in and I plan on letting the owners know of this thread tomorrow.

No prob Z1.. it only raises up maybe a few CM, but it's enough for the latch to shut properly.

Most people I talked to didn't use the rubber from the stock hood, so I recommend you doing that too, if you haven't.

ricky im located in va beach. im not sure how far you are from me, but we can meet up some time. and i have the injen ses exhaust, and an aem intake. i cant stand it when people put stickers on their car for stuff they dont have!! i didnt realy want to use the sparco stickers since i only have the hood pins by them, and i dont want people to think i have sparco seats,(not that sparco isnt a GREAT company, they just didnt sponcer me.) but i needed one more sticker on the hood to even out the spacing. im very happy with the way it turned out. i paid $30 shipped for the pins, but a friend put them in for me. it took a couple of hrs, so $120 would be a good package price! i have the rubber strip in my car. i forgot to have my friend open up the holes for me, but it will be in tonight. keep an eye out for another thread about my hood tonight. i didnt want to jack this thread, but ill post a link here later toniogt tonight. and Z1, if you can get it to fit, it is well worth it! it seems to me that these hoods are a case by case. i hope it turns out well for you.

DeeZee, we should talk more. If we can set up something where we do car shows together and rent a nice booth for just us 2, we can attract a lot of attention. Especially since you have a white, and I have a black. Let me know how you feel.. there is a few shows coming up in the coming months.
