Like many other Z owners I can't stand the center part of the dash that houses the navigation system and radio. It's cheap and looks cheaper. Aside from carbon fiber are there any other more subdued, quality options? aluminum? any adeas appreciated

 

There are lots of wood dash kits. Look through as many sites as you can find because there are variations in just how many pieces and what they cover. I am not sure how these things look in the flesh though, so get some input from others who have actually installed them. Some of even put rings of wood, carbon fiber, etc around the back speakers. One even has a Z in the material you choose to go on the lid of the navigation housing. All depends on your tastes. Good Luck!
