I work for Scion of Naperville. We're dressing up some cars and I came up with a kick *** idea that I want your feed back on.

Custom window tint.

Taking perferrated 3m paper. Take an image, 600 x 300 resolution: Print on the 3m paper. Voila! You have custom window tint.

I am in the process of having it done. I could do them for $300 installed, $400 including side windows.

ON the Black Scion xB I will have a night city skyline as the tinted window

ON the Silver scion xA (street Fighter II) throwing fireballs at eachother


On my 350z roadster, I think I will just do the rear window and do a Ryu vs. Ken high res image.


What do you guys think? Of this idea?

 

I think it could be sweet (huge headache picking the right pic though lol), I'd like to see some pics when they become available

maybe you can answer on off topic question I have. Why the hell are so many scions selling, they look so freakin cheap and ugly (opinion, I know). And people that drive them act like they just bought the coolest car on the road.

 

I don't want to sound like a snob just because I have a Z and the thing is just too damn sweet looking, but scions have to be the ugliest little things out there... Cool if you live in Japan where space is at a premium but we still have plenty of room for a decent car in the US

 

What is the appeal in Scion?

Scion is a weird, unique, and inexpensive product. Toyota quality. No Haggle experience. Financing programs that benefit first time buyers. Scion is cool, it's weird, it's something that young buyer can all their own.

are you talkin about the tint that is made up of small dots? The kind that you see on buses?

post pics of what ur talkin about, im a little confused.

No this tint is perferated 3m paper.

You often seen Pick Up with the American flag on this type of paper.

 

Hate to admit it, but, the xB has grown on me.... I'm diggin' it.

 

I don't know why but I'm diggin Scions too. Not as a symbol status car or anything i'd be too excited about driving but they just seem like the cars to mod for fun.

Even their marketing strategy emphasizes the tunability of these cars. Kinda diggin that Scion TC that's about to come out. Factory warrantied optional supercharger??? I'll take that over a civic ANY day. It'd be good to be a highschool kid going into college right now.

 

Like the xB a lot in Black. Would fit in on the streets of Japan for sure. TC is interesting too.

Oh yeah, about the tint thing, I don't know what you're talking about Gotta see it. I hope it's not colorful. Could be cool if it was a ghost looking image.

 

if you think the scions are strange just wait till the smart cars hit the US. they are almost here but they have this roadster coop thats looks really cool.

I will go to the local meets in Chicago when I get my Z, it's on order, i should get it May 20th. I close on my house Apirl 22nd.

On the Tint: Sounds kinda ricey to rednecky to me....I'll wait for the pics to make a final decision.

On the Scion: I like the box one...never seen the other one. I'd rather see those driving around than geo's.

i know exactly what your talking about. Do you know the legality of putting that on your windows? here in nYC any tint below 35% is illegal. this may be the loophole, im not a traffic lawyer so i dont know for sure. However, this would be an interesting alternative. Does the perforations come in different sizes? im assuming the less perforations the more detailed on the picture and less light into the car. Is that right?
