Silver Carbon fiber hood.
Update on the color fiber weave-
i just got back from meeting with fiberimages-
the color fiber weave you see isnt actually Carbon Fiber, it is a material called Hexcel Texalium. It's properties are actually closer to fiberglass, than Carbon fiber. you get the weave look, with the color capacity of fiberglass. it is harder to work with, Fiberimages says, and it is not at strong, but looks quite nice-
just wanted to let you know-
Cheston
edit: just reread a post.. the resin WILL NOT turn yellow.. they have a UV additive in the resin mixture they use for their products--

do they make any in a darker silver to maych silverstone?
not necessary. but highly recommended.
although secured very well to the composite hood, i would not trust that in a front collision or if god forbid the resin cracks/fails and the hood swings up on the freeway to shatter your windshield...... the pins just add an extra layer of safety..
besides. if you track a car, most of the time they wont let you on the track if you dont have pins to secure an aftermarket hood.

This silver material is NOT carbon fiber. it is an aluminum coated fiberglass sold under the trade name Texalium. http://www.hexcelcomposites.com/Mark...um/Default.htm
It does not have the same weight savings or stiffness properties as real carbon fiber and is for looks only.
