Default Nismo replica self-install?

I was wonderin if i should install the nismo replica myself????...right now I have the stock spoiler on my car and does anyone have any tips on how i could remove the stock spoiler so that if i get it installed at a body shop they won't charge me for that??? Does anyone know a good shop in North Jersey where I can get the wing installed??? or should I just do it myself...but im kinda scared to drill holes in my baby......any help would be appreciated....thanks

First dont install it yourself unless you are really good at that sort of thing.

I called a local auto accessories and trim company. They install about 35 wings/spoilers a month for the dealers in my area. He charged me $75.00 for 2 hours of removing the old spoiler measuring, drilling and installing the new one.

As for removal of the old oem spoiler, first start by removing the interior hatch trim, then remove the two exterior bolts nuts from the spoiler on the hatch. Then you will need fishing line to cut thru the double sided automotive tape which is all the way around. When completed then start to pull the oem spoiler up. Take care in pulling cause you will want to sell it later. ha ha.

In addition to double sided tape, the spoiler have two snap together points near the middle. The latch area prohibits a full drill thru so Nissan opted for a hole in the exterior of the hatch, with a plastic plug, in each. The spoiler has two snap tight plastic bolts that snap into the two center holes plugs. Give it a tug, and it will pop out. pull straight up, dont torgue the spoiler.

When the spoiler is off, then pull out the plugs. They cost $4.00 each at the dealer. I tore them up to getting them out and then ordered two replacements for the guy who bought mine.

Now clear the excess tape off and then measure for the new holes and then hold you breath that you dont route them out to far.

Take my advise, unless you have the tools, the patience, and guts to drill into the car, get help. Look in your local yellow pages for an auto trim company. They will will have everything.

Example. While trying to get the bolt to go in the guy lost the bolt inside the structure of the hatch. It immediately went forward and there was no way to get to it. He pulled out a footlong flexible tool with a heavyweight magnet on it and fished it out in ten seconds. The thing would have rattled for years if I had to get it out.

Also dont get scared when you find that the rear hatch wiper motor mount is right in the way of the right front bolt. Just go in an angle and it will work.

I hope this helps...Good Luck..
