Default Mirror problem

Anyone else think that the drivers side mirror is almost useless, especially when merging into highway traffic?

I tried one of those stick-on convex circular mirrors, but it was so small it was more of a nuisance (and eyesore) than help.

mine is adjusted all the way to the outside so that I only see a bit of my car and it seems to work fine as long as traffic isn't bumper to bumper, then all you can do is pray that you don't hit anyone as you're moving over.

Out of habit (I sometimes drive a Ford F150 = large mirrors) I might have it focused towards the -Z- too much....I'm going to adjust it more outwards and see if that works.

I had a close-call today and was just thinking that it would be nice if the -Z- mirror was (more) convex so that it would cover a larger field-of-view.

spot mirrors work for me great. never have to look back once you trust the fact that if theres no car filling the spot mirror there's no car there.

While it is possible to adjust your side mirrors farther out to see the blind spot, I have wondered why Nissan only put a convex mirror on the passenger side. A convex mirror on the driver's side would just let you see a little wider view of what is out there. Well...In Australia they drive on the other side of the road and the left side mirror is the passenger mirror. Nissan makes left-side, convex mirrors for 350Zs in Australia. I found an Australian parts place that sells these mirrors. I have one on the way to me now. Here's the website: http://www.prestigeautoaccessories.c...products_id=57

I can't take credit for the find. Someone in another forum pointed me in the right direction.

I will post the Nissan part number when it arrives but don't hold your breath waiting for it. I did not pay for the express shipping that was offered so they told me that the expected delivery time was "Up to 28 days". Must be a sloooow boat from Down Under. :-) I ordered the mirror on 6/15 and they said that they shipped it the next day. Could be another 2 weeks before it gets here.

I paid $50.30 for the mirror and $5.20 to have it mailed via World Mail.

And I thought this would be a futile post.....$55 for safety's sake is money well spent. I'm ordering one.

Thanks!!

OK. I got home this evening and guess what was in my mailbox.

The Nissan Part Number on the box is: 96366-CD400 "MIRROR-GLASS LH".

The mirror came with pretty simple instructions for popping out the old mirror and popping in the new mirror. Unfortunately, the directions did not address how to disconnect and reconnect the leads for the mirror defroster. The leads are stuck to the back of the original mirror with some sort of putty/adhesive which I do not happen to have a supply of.

I guess I will have to wait until I take the Z in to the dealer for it's first oil change and ask them to swap the mirrors.
