Anyone using 8000K D2R?

Nope, according to this thread https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....highlight=D2R, it appears that we have reflector type not projector type, so ours are D2R not D2S.

4200-5000K is the best light range IMHO.

the way it works.. the higher up the temperature is (K meaning kelvin) the more blusih/purplish your lights will be. At the same time, direct sun light is somwehre around 4700. The stockers are 4300 or around. And I know someone with 5000k and I believe this is the best. Best light output and nice bluish white color. They all look good, I would just stay away from going all the way to 8000k. Might not be what your looking for, definatly a decrease in brightness.

i paid 260 shipped for a pair, but philips is a well known company. they make good stuff. you can also go the cheaper alternative and get some no name d2r/d2s bulbs off ebay, but i dont know how long those will last you.

No, the 350Z lamps are a combination of projector AND reflector. MOST of the light coming from the headlamp emits out of the projector, but there is still some light that is emitted through the reflective area. But, because the design is not 100% projector based.. the headlamp is supposed to work with the D2R bulb which has certain maskings over the capsule.
So, D2R it is.

Hanky: I would not go w/ an 8000K. We can meet up sometimes this week if you want to check out my 6000K bulbs that I got. I go workout at the Gold's Gym off Beltline/N. Garland at night, so we can meet there perhaps.

Philips
Hella
Brightstar TW
those are good brands.
A lot of people think that the higher they go, the more it will look like BMW's and Mercedes lights, but those cars have purplish looking lights because of their projectors, not cause of their HID's.
