anyone that took these off....once you unscrew the 2 screws does it just come off?
From this thread: Anodizing vs Powder Coating

azaz Door handles are a breeze to take off. Pop the 2 little rubber grommets out and take the screws out. (Be careful not to drop the screws down in the door) and take the handles off. It's that easy.

You might want to PM him for more details.

thanks for the detective work

i can understand what hes saying by how easy...looks easy enough

i just hope its fool proof when re-installing...meaning i dont want the handle to rattle or if it just doesnt open the doors anymore

maybe theres just 2 screws to remove but theres gotta be more to it..as in the contruction of the thing

i feel like this might be a DIY job...im not sure exactly how to approach this but i can think of better things to spend $100 on (estimated cost)

im sure i have to sand them first and then just pray that the paint sticks and then spray a clear

ill revive this thread if i ever end up doing it

Nothing more to it than the two nuts to take out, just be very carefull about dropping them into the door. There is a rod that goes into the linkage that actually pushes down on the latch to release the door when you pull the handle, but that is all. Just remove the rubber grommets and take the nuts off the studs that are made into the handle, lift up and turn a bit and they are off in 5 minutes or less. No need to take the door panel off at all. Really there is nothing to it, you will be surprised. Oh, there is a plug in on the drivers side to be unplugged if I remember correctly but that is a no brainer. Will take you less time to remove the handles than it took to write this.

Okay, I'm going to attempt this because I want to replace a handle.

And another thing...if these handles are plastic that means they could be shaped or have custom body work done to them.

Has anyone thought about reshaping their door handles in another way?

What kind of paint are you guys using to do this? Are you wet sanding the handles w/400 or 1500 grit sandpaper? Does it need an adhesive promoter sprayed on it first and then a primer as well?

Yeah, I like to run searches on threads before I start a new one. These threads aren't really THAT old though because the forums aren't even that old.

Today I replaced my driver's side handle...it was pretty easy, and I took pictures if anyone needs help.

I don't plan on repainting mine. I think it looks good on the black cars though.
