I would do just summer - winter swap.

As someone else said, wont taking all that weight out of the rear make your weight distibution all off? Seems like your car will be nose heavy now. Notice anymore understeer in turns?

IMO, having less weight to turn and less weight to accelerate/slow is worth offing balance a little. 200lbs is really small % for weight distribution, but noticable difference in acceleration cornering. My car is 110 lbs less (+ gas) and I see the difference. It's easier in turns, and I'd say less understeer than it was.

I actually reall considered doing this.

Figure the S13 blacktop is 2900 shipped.

You can easily sell the VQ35DE with tran/ecu/harness for $4000+

you could get a sr20det for much cheaper than that. ive been quoted 1800 for the motor, ecu, tranny, and everything else needed for a swap. is the 2900 for the whole clipa?

Tar? Hmm, I didn't even think to remove it, but it probably helps with the other sound-deadening I added. I almost feel guilty for all the weight I *added* to my Z with the stereo, but oh well. *shrug* I drove it around bare for a few weeks while I was working on it, and I couldn't imagine driving around like that in a Z all that time....

When the car is strictly a track day car, do you plan to add a roll bar or cage? or a harness?

The dash must weigh 30+lb.

I never knew you could call our Z's interior beautiful ...
I had a huge sound system in my accord , but would never think to put something like that in a sports car , to me thats ridiculous, why dont you buy an escalade - more room , maybe you could fit xbox + ps2 + ice cube ?
but like people say different strokes ...
no hard feelings
( btw cool setup , how much did the install cost ? )

Im really not sure at this point , still having second thoughts about making it a track car..
Im in love with Z32 TT for the past couple of years , If Im not satisfied with my 350 performance , I will make it my daily driver , and will get Z32 for a track car... cant make up my mind...

Because I wanted it all, speed, handling, sound and good looks. Besides I had a SUV before and I hated it, I sold it after a few short months. I love the way the Z handles. I have no plans of ever taking my car to the track, ever.

As for how much it cost, more than I am willing to admit
. Let's just say I could have had TT installed and much more but like we both said, it's all what you want out of the vehicle.

I don't know how old you are and by no means am I implying or saying your young or imature, I just know for me personally at this point in my life at 28 I just don't drive my car hard, sure I have some fun from time to time but I pretty much baby it and drive it like an old fart. I am just really, really into car stereo stuff so I wanted the stereo to look as good as the car.

Good luck at the track and hope you reach your goal. Btw, sometimes I wish I went with the TT instead but when I get in the car and turn up the stereo I don't even think twice about it.

Having held a front fender of a Z, I can assure you that a CF one won't save more than 1-2lbs. As for the rear hatch, there is a lot of weight to be saved there with a CF option, supposedly in the upwards of 45lbs. Since my car is pretty much a track car, it definitely needs to go on a diet.
