It's kinda hard to dyno this mod since your car would be static while making a run. I don't think there is a dyno place where they have a fan that would simulate different speeds. AI think it's more for aesthetics rather than function. that's not to say it didn't help, prob just a little bit. here's some pics hope this give you an idea.

I've actually taped mine off for winter here in Seattle. It's not a huge problem, but I noticed one time during heavy rain and driving on the highway that the filter was getting a little wet...and there was some drops of water splashed around in the filter compartment.
Since it rains almost every day in the winter up here, I figure I'll just keep it taped off till spring. A wet filter isn't going to move as much air as a dry one.

BTW- Black electrical tape works pretty well if you overlap it.

i think that was just an arrow added to the pic of that one guy's beautiful ppw to show direction of air flow; it actually looks like an extension from the duct to the filter, tho. if that was truly an extension, it would cut off air flow from the main entrance, which would not be good, me thinks.

so, what if we just cut a whole in the bumper as per the template, and then just cover the edges with some form of cf material? it seems like the varis airduct really doesn't add much in the way of added flow because the outlet portion of the duct is so small. what do you guys think?
