Ok this is sortof a dumb question. Whats the point of the engine cover? does it help protect the paint or something? or is it all just for looks?

It's just for looks as far as I know, covers all the wiring and front of the motor.

 

i think the cover is more of a dress up thing than anything else. it helps to give the engine bay a cleaner look by hiding a lot of the wiring.

i dont think it adds any further protection that the hood doesn't provide. that is just my opinion.
