Default First Time Window Tinter in LA. Need advice please.

Live in the Hollywood area and looking to get my Z tinted. Any suggestions on where to go to get a good deal? Only want Llumar or 3M tint.

Also, looking for suggestions on how dark of a tint I should get. The exterior is black. From reading the boards, I learned that the lower the percentage, the darker the tint. Do most people tint the front window? Saw a lot of people who did like 20% or 30% around the whole car. Others did 20% on the side and back and nothing on front.

What LOOKS the best??

Thanks in advance!

Here's my 50% on a gloomy day and also because the back of my car is pretty dark and it adds to the darkness, but in the daytime it's pretty light.

I was in the same boat as you until yesterday. I had my windows tinted yesterday with 35% all the way around. What you should do is actually try to see the darkness in person. When you see a car that you like, ask the owner what percentage they have on there. All the pictures on this board will not help you make your decision. Half the time, the pictures on the board are so hard to tell how dark the windows really are, it is just easier to find what you like in person.

Tint on SB looks great if its done correctly. Limo tint looks cheap IMO.

Here in Cali, 20% is the limit for the sides and 5% is the limit for the rear. So I pushed it to the limit and went as dark as possible! Some people like the same shade all the way around…Just like the other person said, best thing to do is see the tint in person. The picks of the 50% tint that were posted look pretty dark, if I get a chance today I can post mine and I bet the shade will almost look the same. When you find a place, the tinter can hold up examples to your windows so you can get an idea how it looks.

Good luck!

Not to sound naive, but is 20% much darker than the 50% that is in the pics above?

Also, what about tinting the front window?

I can't really tell from the pics but I can tell you that when I was deciding between 35% and 20%, there was a significant difference. I'm not sure how much I can describe it to you but i've had people tell me that its too dark. I got a ticket from CHP a few months ago for speeding and he didn't say anything about my tint...Just my speed!

I can't post my pics until tonight but like we said, best is to see it in person.

It is illegal to tint your front window in Cali unless you have an exception granted by the DMV.

i also live in LA and have a SB. I did a limo tint (5% i think) all the way around (except front windshield). I think it looks awesome. i got mine done at a place on 7th and vermont. it was about $150 for the side windows, little side windows, and rear. It also came with a lifetime warranty against bubbles and other defects. as far as legality goes, i have never been stopped or asked about it, but i also drive with the windows down alot of the time, so that might have something to do with it. Hope this helps. Pm me if you have questions or would like more info.

Just got 20% all around at TINT FACTORY. Paid $225. They used 3M tint.

Hasn't even been 30 minutes and I am regreting not haven gone darker. The tint guys told me that a lot of people get pulled over and come back only to have the tint removed, so I wussed out at the last minute.

If any of you have 5% on sides and back, can you send me a photo? HBauer@FlutieEnt.com

Thanks!

Sorry took so long to post...20% sides. 5% on the small window and hatch. It was really, really the day I took this shot so you can see through the window just a bit...

I just lowered w/Eibachs too, so you guys get first look!

This is my first time posting a pic so hope it works...

i got the tints done at Find It All. They are located at 505 S. Vermont Ave, LA, CA 90020. Their phone # is 213-487-7788. I took my car there around 9am and they had it done by 4pm. Mine may have taken longer since I had 20% on the car from the dealership (which did a terrible job) taken off and then the limo put on. So far I have had it on for a year and no problems (either legal or with the tint itself).
