Default Stupid Question on Shift Boot

A few months ago I bought a Nismo Titanium GT Shift ****, because I thought it looked better than stock.

After trying it out for a couple of weeks, I decided that the weight and height was not to my liking and went back to the stock ****.

My problem is that no matter what I do, the shift boot wont match up to the bottom of the stock shifter. I have hesitated gluing it to the bottom of the shifter, as I might ruin something. I thought about double sided auto tape, but again the same problem.

I have looked at the underside of the boot, and can see no real adjustments, etc.

Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you solve it?

thanks
Cliff

Default Boot

Their should be a retainer ring that the boot goes into and that ring snaps around the shifter and then the OEM Shifter would sit on it.

Have you ever taken the boot off? If so, make sure the that leather straps are tied to the ring under the shift ****
