Default Question about the S2000 Antenna

I have read that some are installing these in place of OEM on Zs

Is it a simple unscrew and replace?
Does the S2000 Antenna "sit" right?
Is reception affected?

Thanks. I'm new to this so probably asking redundant questions

It is a redundant question, but...

1. Yes
2. No, but close enough for government work.
3. From what I've read, not much.

I bought a generic one on ebay for $12 and it sits flush with the base. Can't say anything about reception tho as I rarely listen to the radio. On the rare occasion I've used the radio, reception was just fine.

Yes it just unscrews-it will take 30 seconds to swap
Yes it sits flush
No signal is not affected
Yes I have it and I know what Im talking about

BTW 2004 Acura MDX's also use the same antenna, just so you know...

I have a SB ZR..I bought both...Courtesy's shorty aluminum ant. mast and the black s2000. Both reception is equal in my area. I still can't make up my mind which one I like the best. Lately I've been leaning towards the shorty aluminum to offset the color?? It does blend in with the door handles!

i'm not sure whether it makes a difference or not, but i have the honda element antenna. it looks like the s2000, but seems to fit better on the base. perfect fit, no change in reception.

I bought an S2000 antenna from the Honda dealer and it killed my reception. Interesting how some people claim no difference, others say minimal change, while others (like myself) experience a huge loss of reception.

The difference is more than likely in how strong your reception was to begin with... if it was marginal, it's going to get noticably worse with a shorter antenna.

After shipping, it ends up being ~ the same price as from the dealer.

mine was about $23 from a honda dealership around here. it's not expensive for something that looks as good as it does compared to the stock one.

I always ordered my Honda parts from here:

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...NTENNA-SPEAKER

204733 004 1 ELEMENT, ANTENNA NO COLOR $15.14

Interesting how this is an S2000 antenna yet it says Element, Antenna. I think they are one in the same.
