There was this really cool steering wheel on an NSX in Car and Driver magazine or maybe it was super street, i can't remember. It was kinda boxy like an F1 wheel. Pretty sure it was momo. I wonder how difficult it is to install and if you need any special parts.

for those installing an aftermarket wheel, we have the proper hubs in stock that will not only fit a MOMO wheel, but also includes a plug to prevent the SRS light!

one quick question
is it still 4-5 inchs away than the standard even without the quick release adaptor?
or does the quick release adaptor build in with the hub or something?
I am quite confuse

I run the Nismo Steering wheel (buckskin 330mm):
with the Splash Shorty race hub (on the right):
and the NRG Carbon/Aluminum quick release:
The spacing is just right for a shorter person (5'5") since I sit closer than a taller person... it is about 1.5" closer than the stock wheel (barely noticeable)
With the standard Splash hub the wheel would be too close.
The Splash hub is very well made, but the airbag defeat provided will not work for US cars... the light still flashes. I am told the Japanese airbags are different and that I will need to run different resistors for US airbag to get rid of the light... haven't had time to mess with it too much yet.
The NRG quick release is a copy of the Splash version for 1/3 the price without any visual differences. I was able to wire it so the horn still works and it is the only one I could find that fits the Nismo Steering wheel bolt pattern (Splash hub fits Sparco/Momo only) Some others fit Nardi/Personall. The Nismo is different from all of those (larger diameter 6 hole)
The Nismo wheel feels great and is just the right size. Overall I am very happy with the combo, and if you run a deep bucket seat (like I do) this makes getting in and out of the car much easier
It is not cheap though
Nismo wheel $320, Splash shorty hub $175, and NRG quick release $95.

yea, that would be cool! now that i put my harnesses in, ill be doing this myself soon i think. i dont much care for a wheel release though? i dont need to be able to remove it. can i run a similar setup without the release? what parts do i need for that? i LOVE the nismo steering wheels! where did you get it? thanks!

You can run the same thing without quick release, but will have to re-drill the hub if you use the Nismo wheel. I would get the standard longer version without quick release.
Install is very simple, just be carefull handling the stock airbag, and having a steering wheel/harmonic balancer puller makes removal of the stock wheel much easier ($15 at any auto parts) just make sure it has 10mm 1.25 pitch bolts for the tool.
I still love the funny looks from people when they see me walking around with a steering wheel
Even funnier when someone tries to steal the car and can't figure out how to turn the wheels
I got the wheel direct from Japan... you can go through www.japanparts.com but it is a little more

Most people will run the wheel a little closer than stock, this can also be done with a dished steering wheel.

That looks very nice. Good OEM look and feel, and you get to keep your airbag.
What is the best source for that wheel?
