How hard is it to install your own leather seats/covers?
I recently purchased some leather seat covers for my cloth interior in the Z. I was just wondering if people had any recommendations for the install, what tools to use, etc.
Is there any cutting involved in this process, or does it vary by kit? I haven't gotten mine yet, but really don't want to pay the $200-300 to get it installed.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I found a small how to on 350z tech, but had no luck finding anything else.
Please help! The seats are from 350zforums.

I had mine installed by a small car upholstery shop for $100. I watched two of them do the install & it takes a lot of pounding, pulling, stretching & spraying of glue. They also added a layer of extra foam to make the leather fit tight. It takes experience to make it fit right.
If you are a major diy'er, go to leatherseats.com. They sell a video that shows you how to do it. Having watched the install of my leathers and being the perfectionist i am, i'm glad i had 'em prof. installed.
I'm a perfectionist as well--especially with a "classy" thing like custom leather, it should look as OEM as possible. Jim, can you tell me where you got it installed at? I assume Walnut is closer to the Sacramento area--how long did they take to install them?
Thanks for the information guys.

Unfortunately, that shop has closed awhile back. Just go to any car upholstery shop & just indicate to them that you want it reinforced with additional foam & to stretch it well so that there are no wrinkles. They will take off the seats & actually install them on top of their table pounding it to fit snuggly.
