Default This forum is in serious need of moderation

Over the past 2 years or so, we have seen this board go from a small community to a large one - it is easily the most popular board for the 350Z out there.

However one thing I have noticed over the past 6-8 months is the number of increased repetitive questions by new members. While we certainly love having new members here, I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to to read "What's the loudest exhaust", "What's the quietest exhaust", "What's the best intake", etc etc over and over again - it seems these posts crop up every couple of days!

So, here is my plea to the board owners - please encourage and demand that the moderators start consolidating these posts - or better yet, get a real FAQ going that is clearly labelled, so we don't have to wade through the same questions and answers day after day

Thanks in advance!

Maybe this link needs to be provided to all new members that sign up:

I agree. What ever adam says. Now down to serious questions like what color Z is the fastest ?
And should I let my girlfriend drive my 6mt even though she has never driven a stick ?

Honestly it's going to keep up until a decent faq is provided. One of the best forums I've seen with the fewest questions from new members is RX7Club. Mostly because they have this great faq http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=68640

But honestly it's not to hard to just not open a thread you don't want to read.

Could we create another area for those type of questions? Then, the "What's the loudest exhaust?" type thread would not get scrolled so much and maybe would be around for them to read.

after reading most topics, you can guess the persons post count. if it has to do with best anything, they havent been around to long. i definetly think we need a better FAQ and better moderation of what posts are where. There are several posts that have to do with FI all over even though there is a seperate FI section. Also, what is really annoying is those ATTN INSERTRANDOMMEMBERNAMEHERE or whoever posts. send a PM and save the useless post.

I think this is the issue at hand. The RX-7 has been around for many years and a lot of the vehicles response to different modifications, etc are understood. However, in our case, the Z car is relatively new and many many new drivers are searching for different modifications for their new cars. Their situation is different than if they were trying to modify their Honda or Acura, where a great deal of information is available. Granted, there is a great deal of information available on this website, but it is just a fraction of what people are "used to".

I remember when I joined the club many moons ago......we welcomed the CAI questions, the exhaust questions, etc... But now that a lot of us are moving on to bigger and better mods like F/I, ECU management, building (and re-building) motors, we don't want to hear the silly questions about exhaust and intakes.

This is where the root of the issue lies and I believe that some sort of section will be vital to keep people coming to this site. I have started to drift off to other sites out of curiosity only to find the same issue, if not worse happening on their forum boards. I think Mike00's suggestion is valid and may relieve some of this congestion of trivial posting.

Just something to think about.

Agreed to a point. RX7 Club has been around awhile but a lot of the useful stuff like installs posted and what not needs to go up in a faq section or install section.

As for the exhaust and intake questions. Well I've been following the Z for about a year 1/2 now on and off along with other cars as I am planning on picking up a new car come spring. I've pretty much decided on a Z but even though I've been following I still am going to have a few question. As for exhaust I know for power I'm pretty much best bet is a Stillen which is what I probably plan to go with but I'm not sure. I want an exhaust with a nice deep throaty sound to it when you rev the engine and go through the rpms.

We will still have a lot more questions the the rx7club obviously but a lot would be alleviated by a install and faq section.

Yes I would agree. I'm new to this board, but not new to online automotive forums.

You have a lot of great material already on this site. I belive it was in the video section you have MP3's of five different exhausts including stock, Stillen, Nismo, Borla, and 5Zigen. That right there is a GREAT resource for determining which exhaust to buy.

A large FAQ covering basic bolt-ons stickied at the top of the page would be great. Add stuff to it as it becomes available, or edit entries that have already been placed there.

I agree. We need to make another section with sticky's for the thread's that get repeated over and over and just merge them. Seems like everyone keeps having to post this link as well: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=50429 .
