This is driving me nuts! With the user info located ABOVE each post now, it creates a really wide area for the posts...so whenever I come to this site, I find myself resizing my browser window (making it narrower) so it's easier to read.

If you talk to anyone who knows anything about UI design, they will tell you that wide columns of text are a big no-no. As text columns get wider, it becomes increasingly difficult for the eye to "track" to the next line below.

 

I agree, I like the old format better...

But hey...Who really cares...

I don't like the bold for each thread. It's too difficult to read when everything is bolded. It's like reading all caps all the time.

 

I don't see anything wrong with it. But maybe it's just me.

 

I think I might type in bold all the time and see how long it takes before people become annoyed.

 

Bold is meant to be an attention getter. If the entire post is bolded, then "bold" defeats its own purpose and merit. I agree with hfm (Dan) here that we should use bold feature sparingly and appropriately.
