Default This site needs more resource tools...

Don't get me wrong - this site is an amazing resource for pretty much anything Z related. However, it still is pretty much just a forum. Whenever I need to find out information like, "Is part XX any good?" "Are the XX tires popular? What do you think of them?" or "What do black rims look like on a black Z?", you have to do a crazy amount of searching to come up with a few decent threads. Sometimes the best information is found in the middle of a 10 page thread who's title has nothing to do with what you're searching for.

I think a few tools could be built (can be external to the site but linked in) to really make this site a better, more easily accessible, resource.

1. Parts reviews. Yeah, there are a lot of sites out there that do this on their own - but they don't meet our needs - especially for the FI guys, etc. Check out www.subarureview.com - a great index of parts reviews.

2. Tagable image gallery. We have an image gallery on here, but it really only allows you to just browse the cars and not narrow down your search. There are many sites that allow you to "tag" your photos, but that really doesn't come close to being a good solution.

How awesome would it be to select "Super Black" for the color of the car, "19 inch" for the rim size, and "Black" for the color of the rims - You would have all of the photos you were looking for in a few seconds - and no more "Any pics of black on black?" threads.

However, this would require a slick tool to upload the photos. A hierarchy of part information would have to be maintained (and mostly user generated on the fly and moderated later) in order to allow a user to effectively tag their photos, but that part I have figured out.

Really, these two tools would be integrated. See a pic of a Z with some nice lookin' rims? Click on the pic to see what kind they are. Further, click on the wheels link to read reviews of them.

I posted something like this before, I think on g35Driver.com, and got major flak. Everyone shot down my idea. However, I think it's very feasible.

What do you guys think? Are there currently any tools out there that would do this for us? Or do you even think that it's a good idea?

Maybe I shouldn't have spilled the beans then I have a good idea on how to do it, it would just take a lot of time (time that a new homeowner and a person with a new job doesn't have right now)
