He's right, it works...

Haha I thought this thread was going to be a complaint about how no one posts in the North America forum (super-forum to the regional forums).

Ok, so heres the deal, I was told to create a poll, and if the forum response leans towards YES then we get our subforum! So vote YES and lets make this a reality. The poll is in the Engine & Drivetrain section, and dont forget to tell your friends to vote YES too.

The "Engine and Drivetrain" section will still be for people that wonder why their new lightweight flywheel chatters... or which exhaust makes the most horsepower... or how many miles people have on their '03 transmission... or whether using five quarts of oil in two days denotes the oil consumption problem.

The NA forum will be for discussing NA camshafts... NA stroker kits... optimum NA compression ratios for pump gas... best clutch for a built NA car...

At the end of the day, we would like a separate NA forum for the exact same reasons the FI people want a separate forum.

...funny that the FI forum was recently forced to have four new sub-forums and we're begging for one NA forum and can't get it...

sadly there are more DNF members than there are built NA cars on this board.. they actually have a better reason for getting a subforum

i don't even think cam's should be in a NA Forum.. on the maxima forum we have an 'All Motor Forum' .. when they proposed the idea to me they explained it would involve Built Motors or Motor Swaps.. and the maxima guys have as many Built and Swapped N/A Motors as we have FI Owners on this site... so it wasn't an issue..

on this forum.. you can maybe find 10 built NA people on this site.. so really.. are you going to create a whole new forum for just 10 people..

let me explain something to you non-vBulletin programmers..

vBulletin is a memory hog.. built off MySQL .. everytime a person opens a thread.. it puts load on the server.. everytime a person searches the forum.. it puts load on the forum.. anything that touches the SQL Database..

when you add a new forum.. you are essentially adding more load to the forum.. its one more table and more data in a separate area that the forum has to query when someone does a search..

if i do a search on my350z for 'motors' it will search every forum.. including your NEW NA Forum.. that brings more load on the server.. that makes everything slower..

if this site had over 40 or so Built NA people.. then yeah it makes sense.. but why slow down your forum for 10 or so people when they can basically use the regular forums?

Its just going to be very very difficult to moderate who or what is permitted to post in a strictly "NA forum." Jeez, any stock Z owner is entitled to post in there.

Its almost like how can you say the guy/gal with intake, headers, test pipes, exhaust and flywheel can't post, but the guy/gal with intake, plenum spacer, headers, cams, tune, high flow cats and exhaust can post in the section.

Truth be told there aren't many "NA Only" parts period. ITBs, most cams, and Engine Management solutions all can be used on NA or FI cars. They might not work as well depending on the exact usage but they are capable of working in both scenarios.

Its almost like a Supra, Evo, STI, <<insert factory FI car here>> forum having an "FI section."

Maybe a better idea would be a "Member Build" section as a sub forum of the Engine & drivetrain section?

Whether you think there are enough NA people here or not, the point is the centralise the NA info that is currently dispersed all over the forum and let people discuss the NA builds. Even if there are only 10 built NA cars on here now, I know of another 3-5 that are currently in the works. As a forum subscriber, it is worth the slight if even noticable decrease in speed to be able to find what im looking for in a much more timely manner and by looking at the poll, the majority of the forum agrees with me.

The reason behind me asking the question was to see if there was a quantifiable description for why you are saying the forum will hurt you. In all honesty 60% of the threads on this forum have nothing to do with anything I am interested in, yet I dont complain that they slow the speeds of the forum. If you think the forum is getting to slow then you should suggest the removal of some of the off topic forum sections, not be against the adding of a forum section that pertains to what this forum is based on, the 350Z. A forum is a business, and if adding an NA forum hurt it and cost it money I would say dont do it, but it wont, it will only help it, as the majority of My350z.com goers have already stated in the poll.

You're not NA so it doesn't matter what you think.

There are more than 10. Look at the vote.

Are you on the vBulletin team? You don't sound technical enough to really be a programmer. If you actually are one of the vBulletin coders, I will apologize to you.

So what? A web forum is made to be used.

Not true at all! The messages will all still exist, they will just be in other forums.

Everything that involves using a web forum puts more load on the server.

Perfect... Check out the vote... there are many more than 40 people requesting the NA forum.

New forum please...
