Default Improving usefullness of search function

One problem I have with the search on this site, if you enter multiple items
it just searches for anything with one or more of those words, rather than all of them.

i.e., if I wanted to specifically search for threads on unorthodox racing pulleys,
and put "unorthodox" and "pulley" into the title search, it would return every single thread with either word in the title, rather than only threads with BOTH
words in the title.

Minor complaint, but it would save people from searching through pages of
mostly irrelevant results.

I entered Unorthodox Pulley, selected thread title only, in the "Engine Drivetrain" section and pulled these matches which contained both words in the 1st 9 pages out of 14.

Maybe your searching skillz just suck or maybe ya' just wanted someone to find the answers for you?

Go to Advanced search. Put Unorthodox pulley in quotes. The switch search type from Natural Language to Boolean at the bottom.

Is it possible to change the defaul to boolean instead of natural language? That way I don't have to go into advanced to search

Heck, I always use the generic search and always find threads pertaining to what I need...

I just made up that example, it was not a specific search I've tried. However I was not familiar with the 'boolean' option, that appears to do what I needed, thanks failsafe!

I believe the boolean option is only available to Premier Members though. IMO, the boolean search is not as good as the regular search. It's too picky IMO....
