No symbol for attachement via PM

Is not permissable to attach a file via PM? I can attach in a thread, yet I don't see the attach option on Pm. I searched through the control panel options to see if that was it, but not so.

What gives?

It is not possible to attach files via PM. You may host them externally and link them using [img] tags for example however.
