Default Too many closed classified(s)

Could we have the old closed threads in the classified taken off? I would look through post after post, then realize at the end it's already closed. Granted some are 1 to 2 years old but I've seen some that old that aren't closed (probably because they haven't sold).
But the ones that ARE closed, could they be taken off the site?

Sure. Give the mods a raise and it’ll get done.

It's ironic you should mention this. In the past, other members became angry when I deleted their past FS threads. They wanted these threads closed and preserved so they could be referenced for iTrader. It's simply impossible to please everybody on this site

Whoa, we're gettin' a raise from 0 to 2 cents!!

OK, let's review something here. The standard operating procedure for the Marketplace is that any ad that has not gotten any responses (including seller bumps) for 30 days, the ad gets closed (not deleted). Simple. Closed ads (and any post for that matter) that has been closed is marked as such at the top of the thread. Here's the thing, every mod on this (and most forums) has a real life of work, family, etc. so ads aren't always closed because this isn't a life priority. We try to keep up with it on a monthly basis but it doesn't always get done so best thing I can tell you, if you're interested in an item, PM the seller and if its sold, you'll hear about it (or you won't get a response).

On the flip side aren't we not supposed to keep bumping? I ask because some of mine were closed even tho I never sold the items. How do we get them reopened, if it's even possible?

You are correct. The bump functions as a delay against the close/delete 30 day rule. Pm me, we'll see about getting your items sold and if your previous threds can be restored or not.

I'd volunteer to help with the marketplace if the powers-that-be deem me worthy? About time I do something around here!

Anyway we can have an archive of previously sold items? I do wish that people wouldnt X-out the prices as it's a good resource for what used parts go for?

Just a thought ...

After this thread came up, I reviewed the MP.... it was all in order. Not many posting there anymore. Even compared to just 3-4 years ago when I first volunteered, volume has dropped at least 50%.

So its manageable.

Where's the pre-owned market gone? Facebook.... where the signal to noise ratio is frighteningly low. But.... I’ve sold six sets of wheels there so who am I to talk? 🤡

I think with how easy it is to list and sell on Facebook Marketplace and for the small chance of getting ripped off (as a buyer or a seller) pushes people away...
