Default search function not always working

Seems like the last ten times I've used the search function to find something specific, I can't locate the original thread I'm looking for. But if I find the thread manually by just browsing until I find it, I then discover that the key words I searched for, really are in the thread, but the search function never matched it?!? What gives?

This site is a wealth of information, but you have to be able to navigate it.

Example:

Search all forums:
"fuel rails"
"Aeromotive"
"AAM fuel system"
"billet"

Search MY350Z.COM Forums > Marketplace > Vendor Classifieds:
"fuel rails"
"Aeromotive"
"AAM fuel system"
"billet"

Yet this thread clearly exists and is not being found:

I welcome someone to tell me RTFM if there is a FM

I can tell you that searching the Classifieds won't find a lot of what it used to since they purged the old postings from that Forum.

Plus you have to be careful about the wording. I can't remember if the minimum letter count is 3 or 4 letters for the search function to actually find anything.

Sorry 'bout that.

It used to be three. Apparently that has changed because I just tried a search on "OBD" and it returned hits. In the past it would not work on three character terms.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I can imagine the site is still undergoing some issues, but it doesn't look like the posts were purged since I *can* find it and bring up the thread. And I'm pretty sure I've run into this issue in forums other than the classifieds. I think the minimum letter count is 3. Otherwise it complains.

Oh well, not really griping, just curious if there is something else I could do. It's just a PITA to hunt through hundreds of threads trying to find something.

K I just had the exact same type of post typed out but I'm just going to respond to this one. I have the same issues.

Ex- "Tokyo Auto Salon" or even "Tokyo" and the thread that I had already seen with that title doesn't show up.

or if I search "Courtney" , I only get half the threads her name is in when I find more manually.
