Question Greddy TT issues this sucks!

Ok here we go Today I was cruising in the car and all of the sudden it has a hiccup. I thought no problem. No biggie. Then about 5 minutes later the car lurches and coughes a bit but only when in boost, then again when not in boost. I gear down to see if I can limp her on but the car coughes and then stumbles and then dies. I assume it is the stock fuel pump that has died. I then that afternoon get a walbro and install it. It then starts with no problem but the Gas gauge shows empty and it has the orange light on. We take it out thinking I wired it wrong and see if it fixes it but then it does the same again. We take it out and put it back in and try to start it, it now acts like it did before when the stock pump was in and when you go to push the gas pedal it kills the car completely, it dies. Also when you go to push the gas the FPR gauge tells me that the fuel pressure drops each time I press the gas pedal????? It was set to 52 psi at idle and when I pressed the pedal it shot down to 25 psi??? What is going on.

It was suggested I take it ot Nissan to diagnose the problem adn then either pay them or at least know what the probelm is, is this good advice or can someone direct me to my closest nissan Tech that will not turn me into the warratny police? Serious i nned some hook upo with a Nissan Tech in Georgia or any other State that can give me info.

My install guy has an OBD 2 scanner and will run the codes 2morrow to see what the hell is going on but any other info will help !!

Thanks Ohh yeah the Airbag is still flashing but nothing is unplugged or wires are not cut? Could it be the Splicing of the ECU?

Aslo I talked to Technosquare about an ECU compared to my current setup with E-manage can anyone give me info on the pros and cons of my set up and the Technosquare ECU Flash, I was told it is only tuned for mostly Full Throttle. but a littel partial throttle is this a bit change form E-manage?

FPR gauge? So you have installed a rising rate FPR and return line?

With that pressure drop, there is something going on....either with your FPR or maybe the stock FPR?

For the fuel gauge issues, I bet the float got bent or disturbed when you removed/replaced the fuel pump assembly.

Default That is what I thought but

it seemed ok but I guess I am gonna take it to Nissan and see if they can diagnose the probelm and then I can go from there!

If you install a 1:1 FPR and you rev the motor in neutral your going to see move vacume and that will cause a small pressure drop. But it's hard to say, your being a bit too vague.

Default What needs to be more specific?

I have a return fule system from Z1.

it contains a Aeromotive FPR. set to 52psi at idle. but it never went to 52 psi except when it was first installed after that it went loopy the pump kept pressure but it was around 32 psi and then it went down to 25! Sorry i dont know if this clears it up!

If you're in Georgia, I'd take it to Z1 before even thinking about Nissan.

Variable fuel pressure? (To me) that right there should be identified as to why?

When I visited Mainstream Performance (you were not around) I noticed they were working on the wiring under the passenger side dash. I thought to myself; man, all that wiring with the TT looks scary. Sorry, not much help I know. Is there a way to make sure all of that wiring was done correctly?

Earlier you mentioned idle problems too. Did you get that corrected?

Default Yeah Idle was corrected with the E-mange

But we are in the process of hooking up the OBD 2 scanner to see what hte codes are so I should have more info in about an hour! no problems with wiring we followed the greddy instructions to a T. And the thing that is crazy is that it ran fine until just when the the thing crapped out, so we are trying toplay process of elimination with this thing!

Default Good Call

Mainstream are my guys I have worked with Z1 and they are good but if we cannot figure out what the issue is it may be in order!

Default Ok you guys can laugh at me now....Yes i am a stupid ***.....

Ok so we checked it out today and reset the ECU and what do you know the damn tank was empty, Yes i said the gas tank was empty so next time you want to fry your fuel pump you can run your gas dry and wait for it to dye...LOL So anyway i guess that is a good excuse to get my walbro in but who would of thought that ..LOL Anyways thanks to all who tried to help the STUPID guy who can read the gas gauge....LOL

So what did the scann show? I bet it didn't show anything......My first question is why so high on the idle fuel pressure? I maybe kind of new to this import thing but I have a 91 turbo mustang that only runs 42 psi at idle and during a run only goes up to 62psi that is with 22 pounds of boost on a 340 ci motor...But what I think maybe happening it that your pump may not be getting enough votage for some reason or the pressure regulator is not functioning correctly. Also your wiring was every connection soldered together no just wire crimped together...i have found that a turbo motor makes some very wierd vibrations and soldering is the only way.....Keep us informed I hope all works out...

It then starts with no problem but the Gas gauge shows empty and it has the orange light on.
*LOL* Once I read that, I thought to myself, hmmm . . . I wonder if he merely ran out of gas?

Since I am my employer's resident computer expert, co-workers are always calling me with their PC problems.

First question I ask is, "Is it pluged in?"

You'd be supprised how many times they'd say, "OOPS."

I'm glad it was a simple fix.

That's funny . . . I remember when I used to have to call the "help(less) desk" for my DSL setup and that too was one of the first questions *LOL*. I was thinking, "do you think I'm a f@ckin' moron?" Nevertheless, I'm sure some people just have lapses, unfortunately, there's a select few who have more

I didnt even think of th gas...becuase he mentioned the removal of the pump assembly . It is pretty common to tanglel the float up in there...cuasing an erroneous fuel reading.

Default Yeah I know...LOL

So I am gald it only cost me a tank of gas so it seems to be going better but the e-mange is still a little wacky I cant seems to get it to read the Throttel position and it seems to be idling weird again and it still stumbles in teh upper rpms it is in need of a fine tune I think we are getting sginificantly colder weather but not sure if that is a factor but it does run so I can run it without going WOT throttle and it is fine. So will keep you up to date on the progress as the beast gets a check up..LOL

Thanks guys!

PS You would think that if you gauge reads a quarter of a tank that there would be a quarter of a tank of gas but it could be only a 1/8 inch of gas in the tank..LOL
