Return Fuel Systems and the 350z - Tech Article and New Product
Thank you Charles...your R&D efforts, along with those of APS are invaluable to this forum.
You know I am interested in your fuel system...but since I have the AAM system in the car I have a question.
If I upgrade the pump assembly with this part you have described, will the AAM system function as intended, assuming proper installation.

Yup... the -4 Hose End of the AAM kit will plug right into this. Chances are you wont even need to remove the bulkhead fitting they gave you, I believe they use a standard 90 degree -4 bulkhead just like I have here, which means you only need to swap out the plug for our CNC aluminum plug/fitting and then install the hose barbs and hose and clamps.

hey guys it is available right now but i am not shipping until monday or tuesday!!
I was surprised to get so much interest in it rapidly, I already have had people ask me to ship it today. I just got back from overnighting a guy my prototype that I was using for testing. Brandon is working on the CNC now making the production units and I have been picking up some supplies. I decided to use a fuel injection rated hose for inside the tank... this was a little more expensive but i feel it is needed since the return on these cars really is under more pressure than standard NON-EFI rated fuel line should be used for... not to mention that non-efi stuff gets spongy when submerged for a long time... I really want this to be able to go in the tank and last forever. This hose is like the same hose you would use in most other cars where they give you a 2" length of it for installing the fuel pump. Its typically about 5$ a foot retail, its good stuff.

So yea... you guys can order via calling me up and we can do it credit card over the phone or paypal. We ship out same day unless it is later in the day then it goes out next day.
Soon enough I will get the website setup for online orders to make everything easier. I do accept CC orders via email but of course that is not always comfortable with a lot of people... but until I get the online ordering setup this is all I can offer.
Thanks everyone

If you want to get the fuel pressure to 35 psi by removing the swirl jet, wouldn't it cause this problem?
Problem 2: The lower swirl pot jet is now disabled also. This means that there is no swirl function in the can. This means the cans fuel level will be no higher than the level of gas in the tank. This is because there is no swirl function to keep gas inside the can. With the swirl properly operating the can will actually be FULL to the TOP even if there is only 1" level of gas. But without the swirl, gravity will cause the fuel in the can to level with the tank thru the hole in the bottom.

yes it would, you definatly dont want to remove it!!
Like my instructions, you simply need to oversize it to maintain its function but increase its flow.

Hey everyone its Mike from Altered Atmosphere. We wanted to let our customers know this product will not work properly with our fuel system.
Our system is designed to be a true return system. It has been tested on several vehicles (including my own) and over 160 hours of research and development was put into its design. With our system your fuel gauge will read accurate, down to the last hash mark "E" where shortly after you car will run out of fuel like most every other car does!
We will be releasing our data culled from roughly 190 hours of combined fuel system research and part development to the community by Friday of next week.
Thanks,

Mike,
I mean no disrespect to you or your business. The components included with your fuel system are of quality and function, and I tested it on my own car and made big power with it.
However, I must disagree with what you have said. I have talked to several people running your system that also disagree. If you have made recent changes to your system, then of course only the people with an older setup of yours might have the problem. But the issue has definatly been a reality and possibly still is... and actually it is the only reason I bothered to sell this component seperate of my full kit.
Also, being that I have one of your systems here... I can assure, that this product will definatly work with the AAM system... if you have made small changes here and there over the production runs, there is nothing a line fitting adapter couldnt take care of... and as you say, it is obviously still a true return system.
Would anyone that owns the AAM return kit like to confirm what was installed? Does it still use a -4 size fitting at the passenger side fuel pump assembly? Did install involve plugging the stock FPR port?
If you answer yes to all the above, then the product will in fact work. It has been confirmed be fitting with the AAM system that I bought, and it has been confirmed with several other AAM system owners that they have the same setup.
Thanks

Ok here we go, visual confirmation...
Thread Here
This link goes to a thread on another forum where someone installed the AAM kit, and you can see clearly that there is a -4 bulkhead fitting going into the pump assembly exactly as my small kit does. My return correction kit actually supplies another one of those exact fittings, but you probably wont need to bother using it since you would already have the one from the AAM kit in there. The rest of the components in my kit would attach right to the bottom of that fitting and then that is it!
Install takes only 30 or so minutes.
I dont mean to get so into proving a point, but I wouldnt want you guys to think that I am making anything up and those of you that have the problem know who you are and im sure would like to do something about it... those of you who may not have a problem with running out of gas before E, well then you must have a revised system and nothing to worry about!
Keep in mind guys, I am not selling this component seperate from my full Stage II fuel system kit (due out in a few weeks), which also supports a competitor's product, to make money... I make $20 on these little kits, rather then tell everyone who has another system that they are out of luck and need to buy my full kit... which I feel would be of poor attitude.
BTW so many people have contacted me asking when I can ship them this revised plug... I wanted to let everyone know that I am not asking $75 for just a plug, I would feel guilty for that!! The $75 comes with the revised plug, Viton O-Ring, barbed fitting, EFI rated hose, -4 AN to barb fitting, -4 bulkhead fitting, 2 stat-o-seal washers, and hose clamps. Its everything need to install the kit.. except the very small drill bit that you will need to run out to the hardware store for.
So I really only bothered to offer this to help out anyone who has a problem... if you dont have a problem, then of course I would never say you should buy this product.

Hey Charless how've you been. We've done extensive testing and when there isn't enough fuel in the tank for the pump to pick, the gas gauge will read empty.
I am sure your modification will fit, we've tested the same exact setup. We decided on a different setup for our customers.
There is a new modification that will offer an added benefit to our fuel systems. It isn't necessary, but will be included in our new kits and made avail. free of charge to anyone who wants to update their current kits.
We'll have more information soon!
Mike
