Question STS Turbo

Has anyone seen this new turbo system by STS Turbo (Squires turbo systems)? It is a rear mounted turbo system that replaces your exhaust/ muffler system and supposedly produces at least 44% more HP and torque. I recently saw the show "Two Guys Garage" where they put it on a TA and produced approximately 109 HP and about the same amount of torque. Their website is www.ststurbo.com. Any input?

sorry about the website link, but I'm sure that is it. So, what did you think about that TX-Rubin? Is that thing awesome or what!?! I e-mailed them the other day and a rep named Jonathan from Squires Turbo e-mailed me back stating that they currently do not have the bolt-on kit for the Z yet, but should have one in the near future. I would definitely love to have that thing. When I saw that episode on tv, I almost s**t myself. Pretty ingenious system I think.

I believe someone from STS posted here and tried to gauge interest in the development of the kit for the 350z. They got flamed etc, and then i never saw the thread again.

Look at the URL you posted again. The reason it is not working is that you included the "." at the end of the sentence in the link.

Interesting idea of keeping the costs of a turbo application down. If their claims are true in that the intake tubing works effectively as an intercooler and that the pressure drop from the elongated intake path is minimal then I would seriously be interested in a system like this.

i remember reading about a STS kit for a Tahoe in some truck magazine a guy brought to work. it was the same deal, instead of manifolds for the turbo...the turbo was simply mounted inline with the exhaust system. i would definately be interested in a set up like this. able to run a bigger turbo and keep underhood temps down.

That's amazing.

But I have to wonder....what type of LAG would a system like this produce?

Great idea

my dad told me about this kit... gains are similar to any turbo.. price is not far off... but the install is only 4 hours and much less complicated... my only thing is i dont live in the best parts of town and im always parking in the worst... far away from door ding land but people like to steal **** 90% of the kit is just under the car... how hard wpuld it be for some one to lift up the car and take that ****?????????????

Boost is boost, and I'd consider the kit if it weren't priced ~4k. I think it should be around 1.7-2k for the simplicity of it, rather than being priced closer to much more effecient setups.

I like this idea, all the gains of an engine mounted turbo and no huge under the hood heat issues. I really think this thing will work and sell well. My only question is regarding the air intake being under the car, will water be an issue?

Do you know for sure that the STS system is less effecient? I was not able to find any information regarding lag, but as far cooling goes its seem that the STS is the more effecient choice.

We have a couple of folk on InfinitiFX.org looking in to this as well.Odds are they do not make their own turbo(so whose is it) and no intercooler? Lot of valuable stuff hanging low in the rear, but power claims are impressive

This is really interesting, never heard of such a system. I agree in regards to having the air filter/intake under the car so close the road and water. I suspect we are a long way from seeing a finished product for a Z let alone my G. I will keep my fingers crossed on this one.

Yeah, the more I thought about this, more I questioned the air intake location. No wonder they show a lot of trucks with this.

Having been under my Z a lot lately doing exhaust work, I can tell you there isn't much room to stick an air filter...especially if you're competing for space with a turbo...and then the heat down there would be just as bad as any engine bay anyhow. Not to mention water... They'd have to pipe something to the roof!
